I made a vet appointment for Freddy for tomorrow morning first thing at 9am.  He is going in for blood work and x-rays.  Please keep him in your thoughts as he is still not well and still pretty skinny.  I will keep you updated.

                  Thanks everyone.

We took him to the vet this morning. He got blood work done and we should have the results in tomorrow. They showed us how to do the sub-q fluids and gave us smaller needles to use. We are going to find out if he has something seriously wrong with him first (hopefully not!) before we continue with anything else. The vet is really gearing toward a dental issue, though. We set up a dental trim for Friday. Might do x-rays then if the blood work comes back fine. If blood work doesn’t come back okay we will see what doctor wants to do from there. I am really hoping Freddy will be okay!

Poor Freddy! Hopefully it is something somewhat fixable, like a dental problem, and not something more serious.

                        Thanks.

                        Here is an update:

Freddy had his dental procedure today. They trimmed his teeth and did some mouth x-rays. All went well with that. The x-rays were fine. The vet talked to us about his blood work. His kidneys are fine…he is dehydrated.. He tested negative for Pasteurella but he tested positive for E. Cuniculi. She said it wasn’t contagious at this time and that he should be fine just don’t stress him too much. She took a stool sample while we were there so we’ll have the results of that either tomorrow or Monday. The other blood work still needs to come back so I’ll probably hear from her next week. I have to keep giving him fluids every day until it runs out and he does have some pain meds to be given every day for 10 days. I am hoping he will gain some weight and plump up after all this . He does eat a lot but can’t seem to keep weight on. =/

Today was a long day, to say the least. He is home now with Marley resting. …and eating hay…

What is this testing for? Is it the second EC test?

It’s really common for rabbits to test positive for EC but it just indicates they were exposed at some point. To work out if they have an active infection can be tricky. Sometimes the vet will just treat regardless.

I’m glad to read his dental X-rays were fine. Did he have some hooks on his molars?
Perhaps the trim will help and he’ll steadily start to put on weight. Fingers crossed.

So I called the vet yesterday and she said all tests were fine. She wants to see him in two weeks. I ordered a scale so I can weigh Freddy and keep an eye on his weight.

His teeth are fine now and he’s eating great. I am hoping he will put on weight! He’s such a trooper to deal with all I’ve put him through! And he STILL gives me kisses! Such a sweetheart.

What a difference a dental trim can make! Glad he’s eating.
