Sorry guys, I have to vent…

So my dad walks into my room and looks around at my menagerie and promptly states that he “can’t believe I have cages in my room.” I shoot back “well would you rather them all be out and about?” “No” he says, “they should be outside.”

Of coarse I’m can’t really say anything. I didn’t really want to get into a roaring debate at the time but that statement is going to bother me all night so I thought I’d try to get it out some how. Anyway, share in my rage will you?

P.S I have two bunnies and three rats in my room. Those are the creatures that should apparently be living outside

Lintini has 5 rabbits in her bedroom

I know how you feel. I get customers from my job that buy pet collars and I usualy talk about my rabbit. Most of the time they are really interested. Most are SHOCKED that my rabbit is a ‘house rabbit.’ I then go on and say ‘She is litter trained and has plenty of toys so she doesn’t destory things. She doesn’t chew furniture either.’

I love seeing the customers faces when I say this LOL

i know circumstances are quite different with people.

I read online someplaces that the definition of pet is for a pet to be petted. It may not make a lot of sense, but it did to me Pets belong indoors and part of the family.
*hugs* It is difficult, I know.

Oh I feel your anger. If I end up moving in with my dad, he is adamant that Lolli stays in the garage. WTF? GRRRRRRRRR!!!! Sure, she wouldn’t be completely outside. But she’d be all alone in the stinky garage with his harley. NO

Dads. Geesh. lol My dad also feels that Lolli should be outside. fortunately, he doesn’t express this opinion too much as he know it makes me mad.

I’m sorry your dad made you mad! But at least he is still letting them be inside.

Yeah he pretty much lets me be which is nice, to be sure. He just decided to grind my beans tonight.

I get mad whenever I hear people say that “animals are animals, and should be kept outside.” Our buns aren’t just wild rabbits we grabbed from outside…they’re domestic creatures that haven’t lived outside in generations! By all means they belong indoors with us

Right    pets need to be indoors to be petted all the time.         They are family.    Really.

As long as they’re being taken care of, are not destructive, and don’t smell, I’d ignore him. You’re doing what’s best for them.

Very wise. Don’t fight with a parent over something like this if at all avoidable; it’s not going to help you, your dad or your pets. Come rant at us, ignore him, and carry on

My dad was like that when I went home for Christmas. He has that attitude about all animals but he let my rabbits stay in my room. He probably knows that telling me I can’t bring them home will start a fight. When I had a hamster two years ago and I told my parents, they exploded and told me that I wasn’t allowed to bring it home. I told them I’d have to stay here if that was the case. Two days later they broke down and told me it was okay to bring my hamster.

My dad hasn’t changed but at least now I can bring them back with me.
