So, I have a two week long vacation coming up. I am feeling lots of guilt for boarding my little fun-size guy for so long (at the shelter where I got him, so he is known) and have a list of his toys to pack for him and am making sure to pack his blankets and hay-tunnel and container of his favorite treats (dried roses from my garden) as well as, from the forums, a pair of my socks (he always sniffs and nudges my toes to get my attention and finds my shoes fascinating).

However, I am already missing him loads…and actually contemplating bringing a toy bunny to snuggle while I am gone since I won’t be able to snuggle him (he has finally, after almost 6 months of being mah bunneh, gotten into a nightly routine of flopping for me to give him a good solid 20 minutes of petting after he runs laps but before he settles in for the night).

Is that totally silly of me? have I turned into the crazy bunneh-lady?

I dread the day I have to go away from my bunny, so you are in good hands. I haven’t left my small hamlet of a town for a year for more than 12 hours because I fear coming home to a sad bun. But, I’m your little guy will be just fine. Looks like you’ve taken all the steps to make it easier for him. And just think how happy he will be when you come home!

I leave Lola for 12 days on Wednesday. She is staying with a lady that boards and fosters buns at a Bunny Rescue so I know she is in great hands but I hate leaving her. It’s so sad. This has been a rough year with leaving her – we’ve been gone for a week 2 separate times for weddings (in our 20s….can we beg people to stop getting married?) on the opposite coast and every time we get back she acts funny for a few days and isn’t back to normal for a week – so be prepared to get the bunny shun when you get back! It sucks….not going to lie.

I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and the bunnies will be home with a pet sitter visiting twice a day. Some friends offered to take them, but it takes so long to pack up their things, then half an hour to drive to our friends’ house (plus the half hour home, plus picking the bunnies up when we return) so we decided it was just easier to use the pet sitter. I had an awesome lady in the town we used to live in, but this is the first time with our new pet sitter in this town. She was very nice and I think she’ll do a great job.

Just don’t worry about it! I think Hannah will be upset she doesn’t get as much exercise (though the sitter will let them out for a little bit). I don’t think Otto will even know we’re gone except that he’ll have to deal with Hannah the whole week. Haha. Bunnies are resilient!

I’m coming back to my buns after being away from them (them having a bunny-sitter) for a week tomorrow! I can’t wait to see them! I’ll have to let you know if I get the bunny-butt shun!

Take pictures and video on your camera/camera phone before you go. when you miss them, pull it up and look at them.

^^^ I do that with the videos and it makes me more sad and I just say “I misssss Lolaaaa” over and over again in sad voices and my boyfriend gets irritated.  I have no clue why that would bother him.

You are not crazy at all!!

I had to go to Oregon in April because my boyfriend was graduating from college. I was over in Oregon for 2 nights and before I left my baby, I got really upset and almost cried I have separation anxiety and am used to seeing my baby everyday. I came home bearing many toys and snacks… but she still greeted me with footflicks.

This sounds weird but I think it’s easier on the buns the more you go. My job and current lifestyle has required me to leave Bunjamin a lot. It’s pretty hard. Sometimes I’ll ask my mom (my sitter) for picture updates but she now knows to wait until I ask because if she sends them and I was distracted not thinking about bunji, I get sad. Anyways, this last time when I left for 3 days when I came back I only got the bunny butt for like 10 minutes. Of which I hung out with him in his pen until he decided to forgive and he got pet for like an hour. But it used to be the butt for longer so I think it’s getting easier on him.

I just came back to my buns last night after a week-long vacation and they were all BLAH at us for like 5 minutes and after we kept chasing them around for bunny kisses and hugs they all started binkying and being little nuts! Last night was the first time we could officially let them all play and live together since they were finally all finished being neutered and spayed!
