Using vapour cigarettes in house!

Hi there everyone, my names Alexandra I’m 32 and I’m new here! I have a quick question, I currently have 2 rabbits that stay in our house in a large pen. We have friends over on Sat night, they used to smoke but now use those vapour things, presume these are safe to use around animals?

Not sure if it’s a silly question but wanted to make sure as I may have to make my friends go outside!

Please can someone help!

I don’t know… I know those things just give off water vapour, so I’d be inclined to say that its probably fine?

They are full of chemicals. Most are made by the same corporations that make cigarettes. These are the same corporations that tried everything to hide how extremely dangerous cigarettes are.

They are probably not as bad as cigarettes, but that’s kind of like how salmonella isn’t as bad as botulism.

Not only would I be worried about your bunnies’ very delicate lungs, but for your own health I would not allow it in my house.

from what I’ve seen and read it should be perfectly fine. food grade vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol is harmless. I use a box mod so I usually keep a window open or a fan on for visibility’s sake. No tar on the walls, no stinky clothes (or bunny!) vape on!

I use my e-cig in the house, neither freddie or bramble seem to mind. I wouldnt ‘smoke’ it right next to them, but I dont thing it does any harm.

Some of the flavored ones can smell pretty strong. A co-worker down the hall from me uses one that is blueberry flavored. Smells pretty good in the hallway, but might be a bit too much any closer. I wouldn’t want it around my bunnies, but that’s JMO.

There have been concerns about long term effects in people, simply because I don’t know much about them and we probably won’t realize the dangers (if any) for a few years yet since most things require long-term exposure.
That being said, I would think if your friends came over every once in awhile and used them in the house, it probably isn’t going to cause harm to the bunnies. I do agree with JR though, the smell could be a bit overpowering for bunny noses.

Thanks for all your replies, friends came over last night and one of them used it, not too much though! I couldn’t actually smell anything when it was being used so hopefully buns couldn’t either!

Hey all, I thought I’d way in since I actually work in a Vape Shop! E-Cigs and Mec. Mods are perfectly safe for use around animals and infants. Now, I would not go blowing vapor in your buns face, but that’s simply because it would probably scare them or be rather unpleasant. Of course, there are off-brand e-liquids made by people who don’t know what they’re doing, and those could certainly be dangerous.
However, brand name companies are held to specific standards regarding using food grade VG and PG. Most juices are half and half, but if you’re worried about exposing your bunny to PG, you can always fine reputable vape brands online that only use VG in their juices. You’ll also find that MOST juice brands label their bottles with the nicotine level and all ingredients – it’s usually only four or five (VG, PG, Food Grade flavoring and nicotine).
I vape constantly in my house, however I try to avoid boxing my room because the strong smell may be unpleasant for Igloo. But all in all, it’s JUST water vapor on the exhale.
That being said, if you do vape, you need to make sure your juices and e-cig/mec. mod/whatever is always out of reach of your bunny. Nicotine oil is very concentrated and is highly toxic to both animals and humans when orally ingested. Even a small about of pure nicotine oil can kill a good sized dog, so any bunny that got ahold of some e-liquid would be a goner, I’m sure.
