So I just got another update about my babies. I miss them so much. This is what she messaged me and told me about the situation.
“We’re about to do another date. I think Rascal has had enough. He’s looking sad. I’ll let you know how it goes today and then we can make a decision about the next step. We have a few options. #1 Take them back home and divide their space so they can continue to be side-by-side, which they seem to like. #2 Wait it out awhile longer, though I think this might be one of those bondings that takes months. Rascal is a nervous guy and Marley moves VERY fast. This seems to be what has them at a roadblock. They will groom each other when in tight quarters, but in open space, it gets tense. Nothing but time can get Rascal past that, and at this point he’s really looking like he could use a break. #3 Try a different partner for either the pair or Marley. This is complicated, I know. Obviously you would hate to give Marley back at this point, but if another bun worked easily with Rascal and V, it would end all this. I also know space is limited, so pairing Marley with another bunny and having them side-by-side with Rascal and V may be more than you want to deal with. Wish I had an easy choice for you! I’ve also emailed a girl I’m told is really good at bonding “difficult cases”…….maybe she’ll have some new ideas. Will let you know.”
So I may adopt Marley a friend that will actually bond with him and is not afraid when he moves or I will just keep them side by side still. I wish Rascal wasn’t so scared. In a way I kind of want to get Marley another friend but it’s a big decision taking on four bunnies. (I’ve actually wanted four bunnies). I will need to talk it over with my parents, though since I do still live here and can’t just bring another bunny home.
