I think Griffin has about doubled in size since I brought him home!  His coat looks much better now- much shinier and softer.  I think the switching to Oxbow 15/23 has made a huge difference in his coat!  He is even more handsome now!  The Blue Tort is such a soft and pretty color.

He is in the same room as Cotton and Schroeder now.  Cotton does not seem to like him (image that) but Schroeder seems more curious than aggressive.  When the cages are being cleaned Cotton and Schroeder get to run around in the room- then when their pen is clean they get “locked”back up- and Griffin then gets to run around.  That is the only time they are near each other.  Time out at night is upstairs in the living room- and I block access to the family room so there is no boxing, nosing biting or pee wars going on.

I took this pic of Griffin a couple of minutes ago- because what good is an update without a PIC???

Good thing he is so cute- because he is awful about his litterbox training.  In his cage he wees and poos everywhere.  But he does not when he is out running the living room.  He is in a dog crate cage- and I had to give in a line the bottom of the cage with newspaper instead of the bare plastic tray since he would wee on it and it would be everywhere- including him- his ears and feet and that would track it all over the cage.  The good news is one testicle has dropped and the other is in position to.  He is getting “the big snip” as soon as both “boys” are dropped.

So cute and handsome! You know how you’ve joked about chain mail hood to protect the ears? With his fur is shining in that picture, it was easy to imagine him decked out in armour.

GORGEOUS! This might be a stupid question but do English lops tend to have more ear problems? I would think that they might hurt themselves stepping on them, or just from the shear weight of the large suckers!

MimzMum- so you think that Griffin is worried that he knows the “boys” are going to be removed as soon as they are dropped?    His pee reeks and his in cage litterbox habits are worse than awful.

With English Lops you need to keep their nails trimmed since they do step on their ears all the time- to prevent any scratches.  He has really long legs too- so he is learning to hop and run without tripping on his ears as much now that he is evening out porportion wise.

His ears have gotten WIDER the last month rather than much longer it seems.

His tail amazes me and I have learned NOT to watch his tail for signs of “ready to pee” when out running around as it is not a good prediction tool at all.  Cotton was obvious in her tail raising.  But Griffin’s tail is so long that he moves it a lot anyway  His tail is at least 4 inches long!  It is so weird and cute all at the same time.  But that is something else to watch with English Lops- they can break their tail- and that causes a disqualification for showing (not that that matters)- but it is a possible injury in English Lops- where not as commonly seen in most other breeds I would imagine.

That picture of Griffin reminds me so much of a picture a previous member posted- ADEE with her bunny Abby.  I thought Abby was gorgeous and that is what started my idea of a “dream bunny breed”.   Abby was fan colored though- other than that both Griffin and Abby had the exact same sweet expression on their face.

If I had thought another female bunny might have worked well with Cotton and Schroeder I would have tried hard to figure out the logistics of getting her from Florida to Michigan.  But I think I was correct in getting another boy bunny for possible bonding.  I think it will be Schroeder that Griffin will be bonded with and not Cotton.
