Update from me and Chito! (And also a nose wound?)

Hi people! I’m sorry I hadn’t been active these days. Thesis is sucking the life out of me An update from yours truly and a certain bunny: Chito had successfully conquered every room in the house except for the master bedroom. Some bunny breeders around are beginning to stock oxbow (thank god) and chito had been happily munching Orchard hay for the last month. He’s now litter-trained (as much as we could) and we’ve started transitioning to wheat pellets (eco-straw) but it’s so expensive so i think we’re turning back to paper shreds.

Now onto the question!!

Lately I’ve been noticing some white hard skin on Chito’s nose. Almost like when you get hurt and there’s a crust over the wound but instead of brownish black it’s white. I thought it was alright, but then Chito scratched it and it tore and there’s dried blood over his nose now what do i do, do i have to put something on it? Had anyone had the same experience? Thanks guys. x

Congratulations on your thesis work! I can’t imagine! -and Welcome back

I might put some polysporin/neosporin on the nose to see if it clears up, maybe it’s just a scratch. But if it doesn’t clear or gets worse-try to see the vet, could be something trickier -maybe fungal or mites etc

Hi Kokaneeandkahlua! Thanks for the warm re-welcome I’m working on my thesis and I hate it I’ve been procrastinating by petting Chito to his heart’s content

There’s a picture of the little rascal’s nose as you can see the blood is dried up. But sometimes the crust peels and it bleeds again. I wonder if it has anything to do with the bars of his cage. He’s been in a lovers’ spat with his cage lately, we need to change to actual padlocks to stop Chito from escaping and eating the sofa at night.

I can’t find neosporin here (so expensive) but there’s something containing roughly the same ingredients (http://www.apotikantar.com/tigalin_salep_10_g) and if anyone’s going to advise me about this we’d be very grateful Loves from Jakarta!

You should be able to sub it for any human antibaterial/antifungal cream (provided it’s bunny safe) since bunny skin is very simular to human skin, that’s why they test cosmetics on rabbits. You have to ask around about what’s safe but if it’s made for children it should be alright.
Still it could be anything, since rabbits stick their noses in everything.
