With Clem becoming 6 months old in a few days she will need to start transitioning to adult food in a month, and lower her amount of pellets she consumes. My question is how often is optimal for an adult rabbit to receive greens? I understand with the less amount of pellets she has she’ll need some extra greens to help her continue eating throughout the day.

We have many safe greens, about 9 varieties in total of home grown herbs and leafy greens. Usually I’d give her a mix of 5 a day and she never has had any overproduction of cecals, but of course she only gets that salad only once a day along with a few pieces of organic fruits and berries.

I was thinking perhaps 3 times a day, for morning, noon and night, but what have you bunny experts seen as best?

Hi Clem, I’m by no means an expert, but I feed my 10-month old bunny his greens/salad 3 times a day like you are thinking of trying. He gets about two cups of 2 – 3 different greens at each meal. It works for us!

A couple of months ago I was giving him a big bunch at each meal and he had crazy cecals everywhere. So I cut down.

Good to hear, we’ll try out your method, thanks.
