Hey guys!
Just wondered whether anyone is studying for a degree at the minute, and what that degree might be! I’m in my second year of university and cant WAIT to be qualified, time cannot go quick enough!!
What about you guys? ![]()
I’m a graduate student? Does that count?
^ She’s working on an interesting thesis too. Ask her about it LOL
Yes!
What did you study?
I’m just being nosey now … but since I’m away from my babies for 19 more days I need to take up some time lol!! x
I have a biology degree (bachelors). Right now I’m working on my masters in natural resources with focus in human dimensions.
Zombie Sue – I don’t know about that. LOL But it does involve attitudes about wildlife conservation, values, connection to nature, and social norms.
Ooh cool!
No that does sound really interesting, biology was one of my favourite subjects at school
Social norms sounds a bit sociology-ey too, an interesting mix! ![]()
Grad student here too
I’m finishing (soon, I hope) my PhD in Biology. My thesis is on social relationships in pilot whales. I’ve been stressing about my preliminary exam for a while now, it’s a 40 pages critical review that I need to defend… just can’t seem to get it finished.
LBJ;
it is too. You already taught me stuff lol.
Bubblesjo;
Do you live on the coast? I think that would be easier on the coast lol

Oh wow BubblesJo, that sounds SO interesting!! I love whales :3 You’ll get it done dont worry, you might have an epiphany!
I’m supposed to be starting my dissertation … but it’s just so daunting!! I know the title, but that’s it :/ I guess that’s better than nothing! x
LBJ: Are you planning on publishing your thesis? It sounds like a subject I’d like to read
Zombie-Sue: Yeah, I’m on the East Coast of Canada, I have to travel almost 5h to my field site. But people in my lab work around the globe: gulf of Mexico, Caribbean sea, offshore North Atlantic, the Amazon… my bf is in the Galapagos right now, lucky duck!
AnnaW: Thanks! I just need to re-write some stuff my supervisor wanted me to add and change. Can’t wait to get it over with. And topic is always the hardest part, once you figure that out it gets easier ![]()
BubblesJo – Galapagos, woooow. I’d love to go there D: I bet you cant, it’ll be a distant memory before you know it!
Yeah I hoped I’d feel that way … But now I’m worried as I’m doing a literature review but the subject I have chosen is fairly rare/unusual and I’m worried there wont be enough literature out there for me to review lol!
x
I study in Central London.
I’m in my second year, I do Study of Religions.
Very interesting, I love it ![]()
Anna – Well, I realized a long time ago that I can love animals all I want. But you can’t have a successful conservation program unless the “general public” is on board with you.
BubblesJo – Oh wow! That’s so cool!
Zombie-Sue – Don’t get me talking because it will become non-stop. LOL
Edit to Add:
BubblesJo – It will be archived with the university, but I don’t know if it will be journal-worthy.
Tessie – Cool!
My best friend is studying in London at Imperial University
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!! I was going to do my degree in London, but realised there arent enough fields and horse yards for me to ride at haha!
LBJ10 – Yes that’s very true! Hadn’t thought of it like that really
I study Radiotherapy and Oncology ![]()
i don’t use mine,, it was boring, plus they’d make me cut my hair
Anna, did we hear what you’re studying? I’m old and boring. I just like to hear about other peoples’ interests.
You folks are doing such fascinating things!!
Student here too! I’m a second year Biology major here in the US ( seems like a popular field of study in this group!). It’s my second time through college. My first major was Graphic Design, but I didn’t feel that drive that I do now with Bio and I’m glad I decided to make the switch and go back to school (though now I feel “old” and a little behind in life, but I’m sure that’ll pass once I’m finished). What are you studying, Anna?
I’m in my second year of Health Studies degree….just my associates, going to finish this up and get my health care management bachelors once I get some more experience in the field.
I was a Nursing major, but two kids and my crazy schedule made school impossible. Prior to that I was a Psych major. I’ve been in school for forever, life has thrown some curve balls but I’m much more focused and driven now.
I’m taking a basic Biology course currently! I am so nervous, since it’s not my “major” I’ll ask you all for advice!
Sorry guys, full day of lectures distracted my from BinkyBunny!
I’m studying Radiotherapy and Oncology, I spend half the year in lectures and half working in a world leading teaching hospital (lucky girl I know!)
Biology and health studies sound really interesting! I considered both biology and nursing, but ended up studying cancer instead ![]()
Studying for a degree in Business Management/Administration at the moment. It’s been pretty interesting thus far, to be honest. Well, minus the Accounting class…ugh.
That’s my idea of TOTALLY terrifying, but cool!
x
I could never do accounting. I hate math so much. LOL
Me too, I suck at it! I was so worried when I found out there is a lot of physics in my course … but it’s actually ok! ![]()
Ah yes, physics. And chemistry. Although I found organic chem much easier. Other people always said they thought it was hard. I’m better at predicting reactions then doing a bunch of algebra to balance out a chemical equation.
You found organic chem easier? It’s coming up for me very shortly and I’ve been nervous. It seems to have a bed reputation lol
I also feel like I’m a “forever student”. I’ve been in college for the past (coming on) 6 years, but I honestly enjoy it. If I could go to school full time and never have to work I think I’d be a happy camper. lol
Yep, organic chem was way easier for me than general chem. Like I said, too much math. Calculating entropy, moving things around in equations, etc. It was difficult for me. Organic chem was fun because we got to play with molecule models. They were like tinkertoys, except you were putting atoms together. A lot of it was understanding how/why reactions occur. So I could look at two molecules and predict how they would react to each other based on their bonds and such.
So many interesting degrees here!
I’m coming a bit late to this but I am just about to finish up my third degree. Should be done in June. I have a ridiculous mixed bag of a Bachelor of television and film production, a Masters of International Peace and Conflict Studies and now a post grad degree in High School Teaching. I swear I’m never studying again after this one (though that’s what I said last time). I really loved my first two but this one has been nowhere near as much fun since I’m doing it online ![]()
