Unhappy bunny?

     I don’t know what to do. I can’t tell if my bunny is happy or not. I have tried to get him a toy, but he doesn’t play with it. Do you guys have any good suggestions?

Your rabbit might just not like toys. I suggest getting a willow ring, as generally, all rabbits like willow.

My bunny doesn’t like to play either, he just watches people, binkies around, and sleeps on his Hidey house, lol.

Since rabbits don’t really make noises like dogs and cats do, it is a little difficult to tell how they are really feeling. I have copied a link that tells you different types of rabbit behaviors, and what it means.

My bunny never binkies or plays with anything. 

You have to find other ways to see if your bunny is happy.

The easiest way to tell how it feels is how it reacts to you. 

If it’s scared of you and tries to hide or run away, your bunny is probably not happy.
If it doesn’t really react to you, or just ignores you, it could be happy or unhappy.
If it runs up to you and isn’t scared, your bunny is probably happy.

The hard thing to assess is when it’s not reacting to you.  The next thing to see is if it’s active or not.  Is your bunny going around sniffing things?  Is it running around?  Obviously if your bunny doesn’t move, it might be in pain or not happy with its situation.

Is your bunny eating normally?  If not, again, it could be in pain or something else could be wrong.

But just because your bunny doesn’t play with toys probably doesn’t mean it’s not happy.  A lot of people claim their bunny is playing with toys when in reality the bunny is just moving it out of its way.

Hmm… Bunnies are confusing to read and i still sometimes ask myself this question. My bunnies love cardboard tubes… like the ones from toilet paper and paper towels. They also like willow and hay balls. Maybe you can try bonding using a treat. My buns LOVE papaya and bunny pretzel sticks. Even using pellet rabbit food can work if it’s something your bun enjoys. Also if your bun lays down all stretched out it’s a good sign. Maybe your bun just has a super chill demeanor lol. I am sure you are taking good care of your bunbun

How long have you had said bunny? Sometimes – OFTENtimes – they will take a while to become comfortable enough to fully express themselves around you. Theodore didn’t binky or play with his toys save for gnawing on his chews for the first month and a half I had him, but today he’s a binky machine and LOVES his toys!

Try different toys and chews, and try different ways of entertaining bun. Tunnels, digging boxes, and things and places to explore are some of the best ways to entertain a bunny. If your bunny isn’t showing signs of pain, discomfort, fear, or anger, then your bunny is probably content or just still getting used to you!
