I was at the giant flea market ealier today with my dad , & I was wondering around while my dad was ordering some t-shirts for his dive group. I went over to the animal section, & there was this one woman selling bunnies. They were all craimed together in a fish tank ( there looked like there was about 10-15 of them). There was no hay, no pellets, & NO WATER!!!! I started looking at them, & you could tell they were not being taken care of at all. There fur was all matted, & they were really skinny. Plus they looked like they were only 6 weeks. Way to young to be taken away from mom.
I called the local animal shelter on her. God, I don’t know how people can treat animals like this!!! It makes me so mad. The same thing should be done to her, so she knows how it feels. There helpless animals, they can’t get themselves out of that sitaution!!!! UGH!!! Anyway I’ll stop, I can talk all night on this subject.
On a happy note, I have a bunch of new pictures of Flopsy, but I can’t upload them. I tried to download that windows picture resizing program, but my computer won’t let me. What else can I do to resize them?
Forgot to use spell check. Sorry.
1/2 way thru reading your post I thought “What could you do? Report her?” Glad to read on that you did! How hot is it in your part of the world at the moment. Sounds like they were in a greenhouse environment – Ugh!
Are you a Microsoft of Mac user? With Windows, I select pictures from my folder with right hand mouse click, go down menu to “Open With” then select Microsoft Office Picture Manager. You can resize them in the edit options.
That’s very frustrating! I’m sorry you had to see that, but I think it’s great you reported it. That should have a greater impact than you would have had by buying one or all to “rescue” it/them from the situation. When you purchase a bunny in a bad situation like that you are just reinforcing to the “breeder” that what he is doing WORKS. Getting the authorities involved will hopefully do more long-term.
A lady moved in last year. She had this little tiny chihuahua. It was so skinny it would take a few steps and stop. She made it walk like that. I told her gosh he sure is skinny. The lady told me yeah his teeth are bad and he had some pulled. I almost said to put it down it can’t be happy no quality of life like that.
I was t hinking of reporting her however she said he was going to the vet for some other teeth work so I thought oh good ok then the vet will see about it.. Fix it’s teeth then it will get better. So time goes on. I saw her some months later. I asked about the little dog she said it died. I thought oh my I should have called on her. It probably starved to death.
Well I ran into another lady and I mentioned it since her name had come up. I was told this lady had taken care of the little dog for her when she went to see her son in hospital 3 hours from here. It started fattening up. We both agreed it starved to death. ![]()

Dang now why didn’t I just call. That poor dog.

So at least you did something about it. Good for you. I have to trust my intuition .
Poor babies! Glad you called someone!
I have seen some sick people in this world and have forcefully taken my share of animals from abusive people. All but 2 of my dogs were badly abused before I got them and I have rehomed close to 100 dogs in the past 2 years just from a mile radius of my house.

This one takes the cake for me though. I saw this on a dog forum I am a memeber of and it just makes me sick and angry beyond belief.
Poor doggy (the dog is not a black dog!)

ETA: just found out she passed away this morning poor baby

Oh poor baby, that makes me want to cry. I don’t understand how people can be that mean. I called the animal shelter today but nobody picked up ( prob cause it’s Sunday). I left a message though so hopefully they wil call be back & tell me how the buns are doing.
Ugh, I should not have looked at that…
This kills me too…
I opened that link Sonn posted, saw the heading and couldn’t read further. So lotta good I’d do facing a dog in need
I like to think I could step up if I came across a needy animal.
Sonn – near 100 dogs in past 2 years? You are great!! I know TARM has opened her home to many too. My admiration goes out to you both and all those who rescue.
I remember when the Mercy story first happened. The video still makes me cry. I will never and do not ever want to understand a person that can do things like that.
It is really bad where I live since A/C doesn’t care what anyone does as long as they get their paycheck. One of the ‘dog catchers’ was arrested for taking dogs off the street and using them in dog fights! So no animal I ever get goes through a/c ever.
Phoenix at SaveABunny was set on fire as well. He lost his ears due to it but he’s a happy bun once again.
OMG Mark! What is WRONG with people???
Who the f989878709u sets a jw8934rofe animal on fire??? wtf!
excuse me.
It really is disturbing that anyone could do something like that to the most helpless of creatures. It is just beyond understanding.
SassyGirl- Good for you for reporting the lady. Is this a weekly flea market? If it is, you should return in a week to see if the lady is still there.
So I got a update on the baby buns. At first they were taken to the shelter here in town, but since the shelter here is so small & they don’t have near enough resources/money for that many buns they were transfered to a shelter in Houston. They are about 5 weeks, & there health is improving. They are not sure what kind the are, there thinking some sort of rex mix.
On another hapy note today was my last day of school!!!! I’m going to be a junior next year
Man where has the time gone hehe
That’s good to hear they removed the buns from that situation.
Congrats on getting through another year of school!
