I am in a bit of a situation. I moved in with my sister for a bit, while I search for a home, and during the move i took in a female bunny  (my daughter named her S’More) that was hopping around in the neighborhood. About a year and a half prior, I took in a male rabbit (my daughter named him BonBon) who managed to come into my backyard. (FYI: Both were uploaded to community sites and checked if they were chipped; in hopes maybe belonged to someone) As of now, they are together but kept separately, as they are not fixed. I am a newbie at rabbit care and trying to get them operated at the same time so they can both come back home smelling of vet and recover at the same time (is this a good idea??)

Anyways, right now, the female is in a cage. We hate it and we know she hates it. At my old house, BonBon was free roam; litter trained and really enjoyed being out. I want the same for Smore and I know that will only be until they’re fixed. What I am getting at, any ideas of what kind of set up is ideal for a semi medium room? I can’t have them out in the house because we live with my sister and my brother in law and their three cats, and another couple who have two dogs; one of which is a very hyperactive blue heeler and a loud chihuahua ….I just cant imagine the bunnies being out and about with the other animals out and about as well. The dogs aren’t inside a lot but when they are; it’s chaos. I look online but I get very overwhelmed which what kind of set up is best for their comfort. I hope I make sense. Any tips and ideas are welcomed.

          Thanks for taking them in!

I think my number on tip is to get the neutered/spayed ASAP, even if it’s at different times. I don’t think the timing matters much actually.

That will make everything easier because you won’t have to be afraid of accidental pregnancy, they will have better litter box habits, and they will smell better!

In terms of housing, have you come across NIC cube condos? You could make some temporary condos or pens with roofs, so you would know they were very secure. You could also get some really tall x-pens and divide the room with a double fence with a 6 inch buffer, so they can both get some exercise time.
