Have to schedule a vet appointment to talk about the possibility that Tank rabbit has arthritis. He just can’t seem to keep his back end very clean and his litter box habits have been spotty. He still hops between levels but not as often as the other two–not sure if that’s just oldness or something else. ANYWAY, Now that he is bonded with the twins, I think it would be wrong to separate them, so I feel like I should at least take one with him–but then the other bun would be left, so I feel like I should take both. They could probably use a nail trimming anyway.

Cramming them all into one carrier is impractical. They fit, and I do it to move them downstairs for exercise, but it’s a little too cramped for a car-ride however short and they are SO HEAVY. So, two carriers. The twins go into one carrier (they are like 10 pounds together) and then Tank goes in one by himself because he’s the heaviest (just a little under 8 pounds). But then my poor Tank rabbit is getting left out again! He can’t snuggle up to his friends! =(

I’m pretty much convinced that I need to get another rabbit. Can we all agree on that? I need another rabbit? Gotta rabbit proof the living room first. Until then, does anyone have any suggestions? Do you think it’s enough that he can smell his friends nearby? Help me out fellow trio-people.

Can’t help with the trio advice, I’m afraid, but hope all goes well with Tank at the vet.

Also, yes, I agree you need another rabbit. Of course you do!

The way I see it, everyone needs another rabbit.

What about a dog crate/carrier? Or a DIY NIC carrier?

It would still be heavy but they would all be together for travels.

Has anyone tried an NIC carrier before? That might be interesting. I may have to look around for a dog carrier that’s big enough for them but small enough to fit in my VW Betle.

I haven’t tried a NIC for a carrier long term but I did use them during bonding.

You could use sturdy cable ties (they have weight recs on them) and make it whatever size you need (half grids, ect). 

Edited to Add: The only concern I have about a NIC carrier would be sometimes their little feets can be outside the grids. I think that might have happened more because with my cube I WANTED to smoosh them together. It might be different if it was sized as a carrier. You could also weave plastic around the bottom to prevent any tootsies from poking out. Hm… Now I want to experiment with my extra grids. Lol.

Now that I’m considering getting Lucky a buddy, I regret giving my larger carrier to the rescue (we switched carriers, I took her smaller one for his ex-pen as his “bed” but he never uses it!) It was a carrier that fit two adult cats, def could fit three bunnies. I would try to keep them all together, to make the trip easier on Tank.
