Hi all,
My dear rabbit got bitten through the cage by another rabbit (I had thought it impossible but I guess they figure it somehow) and had a torn lip.

You can see it is flapping over and I can see his upper teeth through the gap. I brought him to the vet of course and he stitched him well (as well as neutered him along the way):

However, as the days passed, I think he figured out how to get the stitches off… and so now he looks like this:

It’s not flapping as badly as when the injury first happened, but there is an obvious gap at the top, just below the nostrils.
I brought him to the vet again, and the vet (rightly, I think) did not want to subject him to yet another round of GA to sew things up again. He told me to monitor the situation and make sure the wound isn’t infected.
Now my question is whether anyone has had such an experience before? What is the extent of healing I should expect? Will the flap join up eventually? Or will there always be a gap or a flapping lip? Is there anything I can do for him in the meantime? (He seems to be eating ok, though of course he had a decrease in appetite for a few days after the neuter. I think he is eating less than in the past as I have separated him from his bonded mate while she nurses their babies and I got him neutered. I plan to reintroduce them in a couple of weeks.)
Thank you!
