Tooth grinding while eating pellets?

Okay so first off, hello all! I’m probably a stranger to most of you now, but I hope I can change that soon.
Secondly, got a little bit of an issue.
Gave apollo his pellets tonight, and he got excited for them as per usual, but when I came to eating them, while he scoffed them – also as usual – he made little tooth grinding sounds. It’s a little bit like a grunt to be honest, goats make a similar noise.

It should be noted that we booked him in at the vets a few weeks ago for a check up, because he turned down veggies, hay and pellets for 16 hours and then his mouth started to bubble and he sneezed a lot of times and was slobbering everywhere. We booked him in. The vet gave him a checkup and told me that if anything else seems wrong then to go straight back but she couldn’t see anything clearly up. Do you guys think these two moments are linked? Something I should be worried about?

I don’t know if the two are related, I guess its possible. Are you sure it was pain type tooth grinding and not just enthusiastic loud eating? The avoiding food/slobbering sounds like a tooth issue but if they checked him over and didn’t find any tooth issues (tooth issues can be hard to see without anesthesia). Does,he grind/grunt every time he eats?

Both of my boys are just plain loud when they chew. It isn’t grunting, it’s actually chewing. Oh boy. o_O I know some bunnies will making grunts or honks while eating and it can be perfectly normal. The sudden change in behavior is what bothers me. If he didn’t do it before, it makes you wonder why he’s doing it now. And the drooling/coughing/sneezing does sound concerning, unless there was an obvious reason for it (choking on something, for example). How closely did the vet look at his teeth?

I have NO idea Kate, sorry! Short of Henry jumping on the bed to pinch a bit of a ‘shapes’ biscuit or a ‘Smiths’ chip, Crunch Crunch while I am snacking late at night – I never hear Henry eat.

Cheers for the help guys, the vet did look over his teeth, and we’ve had no incidents with the drooling/loud tooth grinding since, so I’m going to assume it was just a one off. He’s always been really food driven so maybe he was just super duper hungry and very happy to get his pellets?

AH – very keen on 80’s music still and blimey, have I noticed that!!! You’ve all gone crackers! It’s like everyone’s family has multiplied by 2 or 3. I’ve noticed TL has a warren of…is it 8 now?! Goodness gracious! >.<

Just jumping on here, but I would like to add that my Tilly is EXTREMELY food driven, and will audibly grind her teeth at the sight of pellets! The vet checked her over and it’s not due to pain, she’s just loud and vocal. She grunts, buzzes, honks, slurps and crunches… Maybe your boy is just really excited like Tilly?
I’ll be sending good thoughts your way and hope that your boy just had an isolated fit caused by something innocent like something going down the wrong pipe or something.
