I went out and walked my horse along the road to let her graze since they are not on summer pasture for another week or 2.  She is a 6 yr old Appaloosa- chestnut with scattered white hairs and a star.  She has striped hooves also but they may not show in the pics since her feet were muddy.  She has 2 small spots on her right hip also.

I love Bailey so much and I wish I would have gotten into horses sooner- but then I guess I probably would not own Bailey since she is only six and was not for sale until last June.  I think it was just meant to be.

Everybody always asks me- and no I don’t cut her mane that short so it sticks up like a mohawk. Appy’s are prone to manes and tails that are not as thick and long- so her mane stands up when not banded and trained into a flat position for showing. And I don’t know that her mane was ever really cut that short- I have had her for a year and not trimmed it and it looks about the same length.

She’s very pretty. I really like apps…there are a few at my barn right now. I find them so laid-back.

How tall is she? I’m sure you’ve said before but what kind of riding do you do?

She’s lovely. And it looks so nice there too! Is that where you ride?

I’m a horsey bun girl, too! I think horses and rabbits are a lot alike in terms of personality. What kind of riding do you do?

Bailey is 15.3- or at least that was what her DreamHorse ad listed her at- she could be taller. I am the shortest adult at the barn and I own one of the tallest horses other than a draft mix and TB there. I am only 5’1″- so I can NEVER mount from the ground and need a tall stool to mount when I do mount. That is very inconvenient- but not so bad since it is the ONE thing I would change about her.
The pics were taken along the road the barn in on- so I ride on the roads often since there is not a lot of traffic. I don’t have a horse trailer- so to trail ride I only can go if someone with a truck and trailer invites me along (and that does happen once in awhile). One day in the future- I hope to get a truck and trailer.
I ride Western as I only trail ride for fun and then often ride her in parades. We are doing a parade Saturday- Dandelion Festival. : ) She has had a lot of training for her age. Her breeder had plans to keep her and show her hunt seat- so she was extensively shown on the Appy circuit including hunt seat when she was old enough. But she did not get as tall as what the breeder thought- she has a full brother that got taller and I am betting more of a drive to compete. Bailey is kinda lazy and mellow- but perfect for me- I don’t need or want a speed horse. And after being put up for sale she then went to a family that shows a lot and did well in Western Pleasure. Right before I bought her she went thru a refresher with top Appy trainer Rusty Miller out of Ohio. Here is her DreamHorse pic- very drab in my opinion. And I KNOW I saw this pic and was not interested in her at the price listed. But once I saw her in person and her price dropped some- SOLD. This pic shows NONE of her personality.

She looks like a very well put together horse! And I think she looks quite pretty in an english saddle 😉

Now that you mention it Elrohwen- I don’t have any pictures of her in my Western saddle. I paid a lot for it- I should at least get some pics of her with it on (and I need to take pics of the model/serial # for insurance purposes anyway) so I will make sure I do that.

One of these I am going to borrow an English saddle just so I can say that I tried it.

I have no desire to show- but may at some point compete in judged trail rides or maybe a couple Extreme Cowboy Races- but only when I am a better rider and have more money to spend on that. Bailey is being shown in 4H by a 15 year old girl- the girl is such a sweetheart and I can’t even put a dent in what Bailey can do.

Ooohhh, she IS lovely! You’ll have to keep us posted. I haven’t ridden since a bad accident a couple of years ago. But I just recently let one of my friends talk me into a trail ride (I kind of wanted to be talked into it!). We’re just trying to find a non-rainy weekend for it now . . .
