Al has NEVER been a chewer. He doesn’t go for apple sticks, hay ropes, grass mats, willow, cardboard…anything! I have had a maze haven for two years and he has nibbled the inside and some on the outside just so he can move it around.
Anyway, we now have him upstairs full time. (seemed silly to keep picking him up to come upstairs) His pen is about a 3rd of the size as the downstairs one, but we let him out as soon as we get home. He has full run of the living room, hallway, and bathroom (kitchen too but he rarely goes in there)
I am planning to put cord covers over the wires (right now I just have them blocked off) and I’ve blocked the back of the reclining sofa so he can’t get behind it. We don’t recline when he is out.
Do you think it would be possible, now that he has more space, that he could become a chewer? We have a wicker chair and basket/vase as well as some other wicker decor and he doesn’t seem to care about any of it. He has never chewed carpet and he hasn’t even shown the slightest interest in our area rug in the living room. He won’t hop on any of the furniture either. He mostly stays in his pen even when the door is open, lounges on the fireplace hearth, or hops up and down the hallway. I am just trying to figure out how much bunny proofing is necessary and if I should be trusting him this much. I was worried after expanding his space, that he could develop destructive habits that he didn’t have before in his super-sized pen downstairs. (mainly because he didn’t have access to anything) He also never chewed on anything before he was neutered. Just loves hay!
What do you think? Is it possible he just isn’t a chewer? (don’t get me wrong, not complaining! haha!) Just want to keep an eye out for any changes that could occur.
