I got Myrtle on Saturday morning and she is still very nervous. I know it may take a few weeks, but as I have never had a bunny as nervous as this I was wondering if anyone could shear any tips on how to help settle her down.

She is constantly breathing very quickly and her little nose is twitching to the gallon. Especially when I approach. I sit near her cage and talk softly to her and I can see she is listening, but her little ears and nose are going like the clappers. Finns nose hardly twitches. I know Finn was a baby when i got him and its easier for them to adapt but this girly is very jumpy!

She was outside in her last home so I know its probably going to take time for her to get use to the indoors.

A hidey box could be good perhaps? If she doesn’t have a hidey box already, a box with two door holes might make her feel safer, because she knows she can get away if she needs to.

Temperament is to a large part an inherited trait. Some buns need lots of time to adjust. My Bam needed a whole year (but then he was fully grown and I don’t know anything about his previous experiences with humans, because he was found outside). He was not interested in being pet. That changed radically. He is a very cuddly bunny. He’s very social and likes to hang out with his humans, but he’s never been adventurous. I think that’s just his personality.
