I use Purina Rabbit Chow and my buns love it. They’ve never had any issues either.
If you are talking about Purina Complete Rabbit Chow, which is the one marketed for pet rabbits, it is alfalfa based, not timothy based. It also contains corn, which is usually an ingredient that is not recommended for rabbits. It is definitely less expensive than some other pellets.
Zupreem pellets are timothy based and a little cheaper than Oxbow. Kaytee is also a little cheaper than Oxbow, but some of their varieties contain colored bits and seeds. I’m not sure if they make a plain pellet. They do have Timothy Complete, that contains herbs and flowers, but no colored bits and seeds. I think all of the other premium brands like Small Pet Select, and American Pet Diner are going to be more expensive.
The cost also depends on where you get the items. I get most of my food and supplies online at Drs. Foster and Smith. Their prices are always lower than pet stores by several dollars. They currently have free shipping when you buy $19 worth of items.
