        Hey everyone!

I’ve been busy with school and work which is why I’ve been away, but I’ve missed the forum, so it’s good to be back!

The date has been set! Albus is 4 and a half months now, and so next Tuesday Albus is getting neutered. I’m excited and nervous!
The vet said to bring him in in the morning with his carrier, and I’ll collect him in the evening.

Is there anything else I should know? Should I bring him food or will they give him food? Should I bring him a blanket or anything?

Also, I read somewhere that I should be able to see his testicles (sorry!) by now.
I don’t know how obvious they should be but I can’t see anything… So I’m slightly concerned maybe he’s a girl?  haha

Thanks in advance for any advice, I’m so glad to be back!

Rabbits’ testicles can be withdrawn into the stomach-cavity “at will” f ex when they feel threatened, but the vet will of course check for that. If they deem him too young or a girl, they will of course just send you home =)

I was told to bring food + a little hay for my boys, rabbits musn’t fast and after the procedure, it’s important that they start to eat and poop asap, so it’s good if you get him some of his favourite food.
Back at home: If he won’t eat of his own, you may need to syringe-feed him with a mash of pellets + water or Oxbow CC. Give him water in an open bowl, as a bottle may be to bothersome for him if he’s in pain afterward. You may or may not get a perscription for pain-meds, some vets distribute a long-lasting pain-killer during surgery.

They can get cold after having been put under, so he may want a hot-water-bottle in his cage, wrapped in a towel, but see to it there’s room enough for him to move away from the heat if that’s what he wants.

Twice a day you should check the area for excess swelling, seepage, excess redness or foul smell. It’s easiest if you have sb else who can hold him for you. It’s helpful to take photos of the area, so as to have sth to compare by.

          Best of luck to you!

I’d be certain to bring your pet’s favorite food during the vet visit

                    Hey Miss Slipknot!

Please do me mindful of the date on posts when you respond. Bumping old threads can cause a lot of confusion. This one is about two months old and since this Tessie has found out Albus was a girl and since changer her name to Luna. Her spay went well and she’s recovered. You can check out some of Tessie’s newer threads to get more details on that.

                    I’m going to lock this.
