throwing the litter box

   My spayed year and six month old bunny keeps throwing her litter box across her cage, and then pooping where it was before. It is driving me mad. I tried taping it down but she figured it out and chewed through it and then threw it anyways. Please help me!!
I’m considering magnets but Id need to find child proof ones because I don’t want her eating it.

Hello Eva, my 3 year old boy does this, but usually before it rains, or he will drag his litter tray to me in the mornings and its full and tip it all out into a bag so I can fill it with litter, are you expecting some rain soon? Bunnies sometimes go crazy before a storm.

Maybe try putting some flat rocks (or something similar) in the corners to weigh it down.

I have seen some people mention drilling a couple of holes in a litter box and attaching it to the side of the cage with something (strong wire?). It would have to be something safe to use, and something that couldn’t be chewed.

oh god thats so cute that he helps you change his litter. She just gets mad that its in her way and throws it regardless of the weather. Its our first winter together so that could be it maybe.

I will look into this thanks. As I type this she is throwing her toy basket around and eyeballing her litter box again. Maybe she is just feisty lol.

They do make litter boxes that already come with locks to attach them to a cage. There is a triangular corner box that I’ve seen, but those always looks too small to me for a rabbit. There is this high back one at Drs. Foster & Smith

By using the search feature here, you might be able to find some threads with solutions that others came up with, or instructions on how to drill through a litter box and what to use to secure it to the cage.

Thank you! I’ll look into that. Seems like an easy solution because I already have a few keychain hook things around.
