Since Jessica got her new cage…we placed her litterbox on the first floor, bed on the top floor (5th floor), water on the 4th floor, and her food bowl on the 3rd floor.  Starting a week after getting the new cage she started to throw her food bowl.  She throws it when its empty or full.  I’ve started just putting her salads directly on the 3 rd floor shelf so she can’t throw them.

For those that remember the cartoon from the Banana Splits show…Precious the dog.  He lived w/ the old lady and when he was naughty he’d turn to the camera and laugh, like "hee, hee, hee".  Well that’s the look she gives.  After she does it she turns to see who saw her do it and looks like she’s laughing (OK I’m projecting).

Should I just move the bowl unto the first floor w/ her litterbox?

huh. . . interesting problem. maybe you should keep the food bowl and the water bowl on the same floor?

I think she knows I’m typing about her…she’s staring at me through her cage now….

I put her food on the ground floor today.  She gets pellets in the morning and veggies in the evening.  My poor girl…she was eating like a little pig this morning!  I’ll keep her pellets on the first floor and her veggies on the 3rd floor floor…not a plate or bowl.  She also has a little hay loft on the 3rd floor which attaches to the cage.  I guess she just gets pissy sometimes!

This is a bit off-beat to your post Skunklionshow, but just wanting to know what type of floor covering does the cage have. I guess you have a type of NIC Cube condo … did you place cardboard down or other material. Just interested!

If a food bowl is not heavy enough it will get turned into a toy. My little dwarf did that with her plastic bowl. Filled or not she would throw it every day. So I got her a ceramic one and she cant throw it so I dont have to worry about food getting thrown anymore.

Jessica is a dwarf and she has a ceramic bowl.  She’s a really feisty little bun!  Her bed takes up the whole shelf on the top floor.  The other floors have cardboard over the cubie/cubby shelf thingys.  Even though bunnies are not supposed to have those grated floors b/c of their paws, Jessica likes to lay on the grate thingy.  Especially in the heat.  I guess she gets good air circulation.  So the first floor has the grate floor w/ the litterbox.

I seem to get the pets that don’t understand what their species should like and not like.  My leopard gecko, supposedly a desert loving beast, loves to swim and lay in her fountain/waterfall and climb.  She prefers rainforest habitats rather than desert.  She loves water and climbs like a fiend.  Her tank has screened side walls and she climbs up and down those screens all the time…straight up and down.  Its really freaky!  Last weekend she climbed right out of her cage…I accidently left it unlatched.  I found her taking a nap under the chair.  I’m just grateful the cats didn’t find her.

I have quite the luck w/ the animals!

You could try getting her a heavier crock, or there are lots of types of dishes that screw onto the side of the cage. My bunnies alllllways throw their dishes, so I got some water crocks that screw onto the side of the cage, and now they test push them from time to time to make sure that it is still not possible to THROW the dish, and when it isn’t, they lose interest!
