After losing my Jet on 02/13 I said no more bunnies ever. His leaving was so painful. Everyone said “No” to that because I’m a good bunny Dad. Two of my babies each got 11 years or more. So I gave in. Saturday I adopted my newest companion.
A shelter bunny (of course). Renamed him “Skye” after

He’s a 14 month old English Spot mix. Born 01/2016, came from Yuma, AZ (Human Society) to Phoenix in August 2016. A long trip for a little bunny. Now weighs just over 4 pounds. He was in an overflow room at the shelter and bonded pretty well with the caretaker but then he was moved into the “general rabbit” population and became more isolated and withdrawn.
Skye was on my short list of four that I saw at the Center. One couldn’t make it, so I only had to visit with three…. but when I picked him up he snuggled so close to me… We spent an hour at the Center. Then I held another bunny for a while and when I looked over at him, I could swear he was giving me the saddest look. Like “You don’t want me?” So I had to hold him again. And I knew then he was going home with me…..
He’s a little pistol. Very protective of his house and his “hidey hole” favorite spot. Today we had a pitched battle with willow cubes and willow balls. He was tearing them up and shaking his whole house. He’d throw them at me and then I’d roll them back at him. After about 15 minutes he said “I’m done” and he flopped out on the floor.
This evening after he ate he was sitting there. I took a chance and reached out and the next thing I knew we were headed for the living room chair. Where he snuggled for 50 minutes. And he IS a snuggler!

If I can get the pictures uploaded, they are from his shelter days.
