After losing my Jet on 02/13 I said no more bunnies ever. His leaving was so painful. Everyone said “No” to that because I’m a good bunny Dad.  Two of my babies each got 11 years or more. So I gave in. Saturday I adopted my newest companion.

A shelter bunny (of course). Renamed him “Skye” after

        http://www.lovethesepics.com/2015/07/sensational-isle-of-skye-50-pics/

He’s a 14 month old English  Spot mix. Born 01/2016, came from Yuma, AZ (Human Society) to Phoenix in August 2016. A long trip for a little bunny. Now weighs just over 4 pounds. He was in an overflow room at the shelter and bonded pretty well with the caretaker but then he was moved into the “general rabbit” population and became more isolated and withdrawn.

Skye was on my  short list of four that I saw at the Center. One couldn’t make it, so I only had to visit with three…. but when I picked him up he snuggled so close to me… We spent an hour at the Center. Then I held another bunny for a while and when I looked over at him, I could swear he was giving me the saddest look. Like “You don’t want me?” So I had to hold him again. And I knew then he was going home with me…..

He’s a little pistol. Very protective of his house and his “hidey hole” favorite spot. Today we had a pitched battle with willow cubes and willow balls. He was tearing them up and shaking his whole house. He’d throw them at me and then I’d roll them back at him. After about 15 minutes he said “I’m done” and he flopped out on the floor.

This evening after he ate he was sitting there. I took a chance and reached out and the next thing I knew we were headed for the living room chair. Where he snuggled for 50 minutes. And he IS a snuggler!

If I can get the pictures uploaded, they are from his shelter days.

He really has some socialization issues. I guess living alone for 14 months will do that to a bunny. He is very protective of his new hidey hole residence and he only forages at night. I am watching his poop count, which is down now but his stomach sounds are good.

I did what never fails. I read the instructions on posting pictures!  He is quite different from my other bunnies in his behavior. I think that will change as he gets used to me. I want to play with him a lot but he needs time to adjust.

If you could have seen the look on his face after I put him back in the pen and held another rabbit. Everyone noticed his demeanor.

I think he’s going to be a handful. But he sure loves to snuggle.

He is proving to be a handful. Been reading about his breed and it appears they like to sleep all day and party at night, and that sure fits him!

He is so small in the pictures. Much larger bunny now. And his markings are exquisite. There is a large off-center pattern that runs down his spine. Looks like a Rorschach print – those patterns psychiatrists show you to see if you’re crazy! LOL…  And his tail, which he keeps tucked away, has little horizontal charcoal covered bandings on it.

Thank you for letting me know what a Rorshach is!!! I’ve seen many buns with this name and always wondered. I assumed it was a character from something, lol

I know because I took that test once. I didn’t see anything in the patterns except abstract patterns. I guess I failed. LOL

Thought that “Rorschach”  would be a little over the top for a name  so I went with something simple but beautiful. Especially if you look it up and see the pictures. His shelter name was Kirby. I didn’t want a bunny named after a vacuum cleaner….
