A few days ago, my mom asked where her camera was. I had borrowed it to take pictures of Hammer and Lucy, so I said “its in the bunny’s room.” Yes, I said it completely serious, not thinking or trying to be funny, I refered to MY room as the bunny’s room.
And it is thier room, this is so sad, but I have my twin bed downsized from a full to give them more room, my one small dresser, the rest of my clothes (ones I actually wear even) are in my closet packed up, and lastly my tiny vanity which currently has my little bun poo broom and dustpan set on it.
Yep, thats all thats in my room that belongs to me. My bed is even in a awful place because this is the set up that blocked off a outlet completely, its in the way of the closet. I use only one outlet now, for my laptop charger and printer. All my other chargers are throughout the house now, only light is my dim ceiling fan, and had to get rid of my tv (been reading a ton now lol) for now, at least till I convince someone to run an ugly cable over the ceiling. Ive been sleeping on the couch for most of last week because the bun I was bun sitting was so darn loud at night. But last night Hammer and Lucy were oddly loud (even though the other bun left yesterday), so I grabbed my pillow and a blanket again and headed for the couch. Well it was very late, and very dark (again because of the buns, I read here i think, that its better for them to sleep in a darker room.) I had been asleep, tripped over their maze haven, making me crash through the buns baby gate at the door.
The gate boomed to the floor with myself following, resulting in all three dogs barking like crazy, bruised ribs for me, and Lucy thupming for the next 5 minutes.
I have 133 cubes in my room, all being used. A spare area rug, many spare smaller rugs for switching out when I clean pens, many bunny blankets on stand by, two carriers. Nearly 1000 zip ties ready to be used (I buy in bulk lol), a concrete forming tube, big tub of hay, smaller tub of hay (when i have the money I stock pile on bags and bags so that I wont spend it without getting hay first), small garbage can of wood pellets, three bags of wood pellets. A 5 tier storage basket thing for toys first aid cleaning stuff etc., small tub of BB toys, maze haven, shop vac. There is poo and bedding all over my floor, because vaccuming is such a huge deal here, all the animals hate it and have to be moved and dogs have to go outside etc. 1/3 of the fridge is bunny salad, and I have a hook for the bun salad strainer next to the sink. I stumble over the baby gate daily, have a huge serious cut from the buns claws I was sitting for. My graduation gift- a camera that doesnt have a delay, to catch those binkies on film.
Went to a party the other day wearing a shirt that had a hole in it, I didnt know, wonder where that came from?! Sometimes I think im crazy, ive already lost my room.
But im happy because my babies are happy! Anyway, my conclusion- Bunny slaves are not sane.![]()
You have to be insane to put up with this lol.![]()
BunnyLiz I know exactly how you feel, My whole room is taken over by my bunnies and a couple times I have pondered getting a mini staircase so they could get on my bed.
But anyway I find myself wishing for a bigger room, not because I need/want more room to myself, its because i want my bunny (now bunnies) to have more room. I am not allowed to let them free roam so I give them all the space possible
. My bed is squished into a corner of my room too and I once considered letting the bunnies run under it for more space but then i looked at the mess under there and thought “no”. The tiny section of my room that has my chest of drawrs and cubord is very messy (I don’t need to keep my space clean, just the bunnies space).
My parents were worried that now I have a second bunny I will try to ‘take over’ another room with bunny madness…
I assured them I wouldn’t but you never know…..
I have the pen for my bunnies flush against my bed so I basically have to jump out of bed…
In the morning I wake up to the sound of digging or chewing, even on the weekends it is no different, but I DO have a wake up service, Bunny digs, bunny chews, dog wakes up, dog whines. It is like a chorus of animals waking me up!
Hehe, us bunny slaves we do too much for our bunnies.
Simply saying I know how you feel, and to me, it is not a bad feeling.
I’m getting rid of the living room chair to make more bunny room. LOL Who needs furniture when you can sit on the floor with bunnies. I have to keep the couch though because the dog sits there. LOL
lolz…*nods* Sounds about right to me.
My house is a disaster anyway…I don’t think my kids (and in some cases my husband and myself) have thrown anything away in the last 14 years and we brought enough stuff to Alaska with us to start our own mini-mall. So add to this about a bazillion different bunny supplies in various stages of disarray and you have what Liz just described, only in an almost 1200 square foot house that feels more like one of those storage containers, packed full.
My ultimate goal is to own a house that I can completely turn over to the bunnies while I learn to sleep on the porch. >.< I think I have enough room on the property to build myself some kind of 'ohana house' if need be, as long as the bunnies are happy. ![]()
You girls need to build a Rabbit Skywalk! Part way thru reading Liz’s post I thought - this is just like Moonlight Wolfs situ, having seen the pictures she just posted. Hehe MLW agrees. I keep saying to myself I’ll start to reclaim some of the house back but I never do.
lol… MW’s room yeah! when I saw those pictures I was trying to figure out how she got into bed, let alone opened her drawers!
MLW- I saw your pictures and I feel for you too lol. If only our parents would understand we need the whole house. This is a small house though, so I get that I have to contain everything to my own room. And I have the same kind of wake up service- just mix in puppy barks after dog barks, and cats chase each other.
furface- yes i get that to, must rid your house of anything you can live without in order to please a bun.
MM- im a pack rat too, but ive had to force myself to throw a lot a stuff away to make room. My house is like 600 square feet, so there is no room with 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 buns. You mentioning sleeping on the porch made me think the buns would probably love to nap on a porch, then thinking about screened in porches and now im going to try and convince my mom that we need a screened in porch lol. She would love one, and so would all the other animals too.
Jersey- lol a rabbit skywalk! With my graduation money first im setting aside most of it in an account just for bun emergency funds. Then im building tons and tons of shelves all over my room to hold bunny stuff. Then im buying one of those wall mount things for tvs, so i can have my tv back lol.
Sibley- yep my room is the same. How you open drawers- move everything while stopping your toes, get out your outfit for the day plus your pjs so you only have to move everything once a day lol.
LOL Holly thinks she has the whole house. She’s not really allowed in our room. I try to remember to close our door, so she won’t go in there. Two times last week I shut the door. I could not find ally anywhere. The little stinker snuck into our room when I wasn’t looking. I opened the door and there she was like “Hi there!”
I’ve seen the skywalk video, but hadn’t seen the pix you mentioned of MW’s room…I’m thinking I probably have the same situation.
I would try to enlarge the outdoor “Bun-Galow” that was the old shed with hutch we kept Mimzy in his first months here, but I am not entirely sure Pip or Fiver would go for it. Mimzy loves being outdoors and I’m sure he’d be thrilled. It was so much cooler outside than in last evening.
We have entirely too many mosquitoes though. I know myxomatosis isn’t prevalent in Alaska, but you can’t help worrying. Fiver HATES the little buggers with a passion, I always know when one is in the room because he can hear it and it makes him flip his ears back and forth like some kind of strange bunny ninja weapons!
