Me and my Husband were just talking about adopting another bunny… anyone have any ideas on what kind would go good with ours? I eould love to find a bunny with no ears… found someone getting rid of one the other day but we were not interested then does anyone know anything about them?

You should probably wait a few more months until yours is spayed and the hormones are out of her system, then you can take her on dates and find her a good match if thats an option where you live. I’ve never heard of a earless bunny, how sad

That doesn’t not look right, almost looks as though they had that surgically done… (how sad, pointless, and CRUEL!)

I would have to agree with Sam and Lady’s Human.

It can take time to get comfortable with a routine with a bunny. I would just have one for the time being, wait until she is spayed, and take her rabbit dating at a shelter.

                That photo is sad

I have actually read about those before, they are just a genetic phenom. Every so often an earless bunny will come around, not in pain or anything, just genetically earless, still a cute little bun.

Sometimes it’s an injury as well. I’ve seen bunnies in shelters here that have had their ears chewed off or had infections so they had to be surgically removed, poor things.

Injury, defect, surgically removed or otherwise I would strongly urge you to not pick the new rabbit on anything other than personality (not on color, breed, size, ect.). Shelters and rescues do this thing called “bunny dating” where you take your bunny in and have she/he introduced to a couple of potentials. The shelter/rescue will help you make the best decision on who to adopt based on how they react. It is the best way you can try for a successful bond. And that way you won’t end up with a bunny that you like they way the look but hate the personality and they absolutely don’t mesh with you or your home (big reason why bunnies end up in shelters). Hope this helps!

I definitely vote for the dating when your bun is ready. Both of mine that I took dating had very strong negative reactions to several of the buns they ‘met’. It would have been a disaster if I had just picked one of those and brought them home.

I think a lot of earless bunnies get them from mom at just a few days old – a careless momma bun, especially a first-timer, can accidentally injure a fragile young bun and sometimes ears are casualties.

I would vote for bunny dating when your bun is ready. It’s possible to find a bunny you like first and then take them to meet, but if the other bunny isn’t fixed yet you won’t be able to tell much from your meeting (which is why going to a shelter where all of the buns are fixed is important).

we had a play date with Bellas sister today and I have never seen her so playful she was binking (she has never did that before) around the house and just having so much fun! I think we are going to have play dates with her until Bella is ready to have a life long playmate. She just seemed so much Happier! It could have been because Buggsy is Bellas sister.

If you intend to bond a rabbit, they have to be together 24/7. Rabbit playdates don’t work. I would be strongly against that. You don’t know when your rabbit’s hormones will kick in and it may hurt the other rabbit.

Just because they are sisters does not mean that they will get along.

our shelter doesnt have bunnies we would have to drive 2 hours to the closest shelter with bunnies

I would wait until both of the females are spayed before they meet. Anything can go wrong between now and before being spayed. Rabbits are territoral – especially females.

Second what LoveChaCha said, my friend put 3 female buns together non spayed, they were fine at first but then suddenly two of them attacked each other and there was apparently fur being ripped our right and left and one actually started bleeding. Now they are all spayed and happily bonded elderly ladies.
