Hi everyone, I’m so glad to be a part of this community. I’ve learned so much reading here and love the chance to chat and share with other Bun owners and lovers. Someone else posted about buns living on a farm in not so great conditions. I’m also aware of some buns in a similar situation and I’d like to rescue them before they’re given or sold to possibly worse homes, as I feel they’ll end up in the shelter or worse. And I can’t live with myself knowing I could have done something so I’ve decided to just go for it and ask for all the buns. I know he doesn’t want them all as they have too many and he knows I’m a good bun owner so I’m pretty sure I can get them.

I’m also going to try to gently, and slowly, introduce him to some better ways of caring for his buns. He’s very nice and I think just misinformed and overwhelmed so I’m going to offer to help in any way I can. Considering offering to help build better hutches for the adult buns, and if they can’t afford to spay/neuter all of them get assistance through an amazing local rabbit foundation that helps out with the cost of spay/neuters.

I guess what I’m needing help with / worried about is going from 1 bun to 4. I’ve got enough NIC cubes to make 3 separate enclosures, and my current bun is now free range in my room so they’ll be completely seperaye until the new buns settle in and they’re all neutered and spayed. I also just Bought 100 pound bale of alfalfa (only size they had and was only $25!) which is great because I’m sure they’ll eat a lot!

I think I’m good on supplies and basic care but how will I make sure all the buns are getting enough excercise and attention if they have to stay separate? Should I give them rotating play times in multiple short sessions or rotate long sessions daily?

I’m thinking of seeing how my bun Sterling feels about the new buns and maybe one can be his bonded mate. And hopefully bond the other two and either keep or foster until I can find a good home through my local rabbit rescue. I’m thinking I’m going to end up really attached to these babies and not wanna let them go.

Thanks for reading and any help you can give, I really appreciate it. It’s nice to have people who can relate and understand to share with as my boyfriend and family don’t really understand and can’t give much help or support other than holding the bag while I dump the litter boxes lol.

You’re braver than I – but really I think that’s great. I really like your idea of hopefully bonding one with Sterling, then bonding the other two and keeping/fostering them. If you do decide to find the two a different home, I think having them already bonded would definitely increase their chances of being adopted. As for the play times, are they old enough to the point where you will be able to identify their sex? If so, you could let the boys play at the same time, then let the girls play during the other times.
