Hey everyone, remember me? Gosh, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I posted here! I’m sorry I kind of disappeared off the face of the planet, life became crazy over the past couple of years and BinkyBunny.com kind of fell on the back burner -although be assured, I have used it a few times for reference. I am going to try and start being on more regularly now.
In a nutshell? During the past two or so years, I moved to Orlando, worked some cool jobs, lost some cool jobs, changed my aspirations a bit, and generally more or less fell out of the happy childhood nest into the cold hard world of independent adulthood. To compound this, my mom had to sell my childhood home and move to take care of her aging parents 1500 miles away. These past few years have definitely been the years that everyone is entitled to where the world smacks you upside the head and tells you how small and defenseless you are. Basically, a load of stress. XD
Little-Bit and Peter are doing well and are bonded nicely now. It took a long time for Little-Bit to warm up and groom Peter regularly, but she’s become quite fond of him I think. They love to snuggle and have never fought. Unfortunately their size difference has caused some negative developments, namely that Peter can be just a little bit of a bully and likes to bowl right into Little-Bit. Therefore Little-Bit, already being the high-stress bunny that she is, has become more or less paranoid about where Peter is at any given moment so she can avoid being shoved. I’m working on trying to remedy this…but anyway, this is definitely something I will post in the behavior forum!
Little-Bit still has to have her molars trimmed every so often, although unfortunately (and this makes me feel terrible) this year has been particularly tight and I have had to go prolonged periods of time without having that done. Fortunately her molar spurs are slow-growing and small, and the vet always reports that there is no aggravation inside her mouth due to it. I know it can’t be fun for her though.
If anyone recalls, the way I found out she had molar spurs years ago was because she had been spitting out her pellets and had choked a few times. Spitting out her pellets became been my signal it was time for another trim, but since I have been unable to this year, my remedy has been to wet both bunnies’ food so it is not a danger to her. Which has turned out to work great as a temporary solution. Actually I’ve found this to be greatly beneficial for both buns –their poop has been FANTASTIC and neither has had GI issues! (Why doesn’t everybody wet their bunnies’ pellets..?)
So yeah, plugging along here. How is everyone and your buns?
Edit: Also, I have to mention. My Mom recently got a bunch of old rolls of film developed, and we went through them last night. Unexpectedly, there were a few long-lost photos of me with Binkles when she was a baby. Wow. Many tears were shed.
