My babies are now bunny men.  I’m going to call tomorrow to make their neuter appointment.  In the meantime…they’re trying to hump each other.  Their whole playtime today the spent walking around in circles trying to mount each other.  Should I separate them until the surgery is over or just leave them be?  I haven’t noticed them humping in their condo.

The humping is sort of par for the course with an intact male rabbit. Watch for signs of violence like biting and chasing. If anybun gets injured, then you’ll need to separate them.

right on time! like Osprey said, just watch carefully. hopefully you can get them snipped before it turns aggressive. maybe give them a stuffed toy they can take their frustrations out on.

Haha. I wasn’t sure if you were about to report on anatomy or give us a story of bold bunnies.

                        Good luck with the surgeries!

It will take about a month or so for the hormones to die down after surgery, so watch carefully that they don’t do this right after surgery. Hopefully you won’t have to separate them, but just keep a watchful eye out to make sure they keep don’t get aggressive.

They’re actually kind of calm today. Right now they’re running around the living room chinning everything. They’re trying to cover each other’s scent so they keep chinning the same things over and over…lol Whatever keeps them from fighting works for me!

It’s funny, I told my boss I need to come in late on Monday because I have to drive my bunnies to Purcellville to be neutered (which is almost an hour in the wrong direction) and he acted like it was completely normal for someone to do this. I’ve only been working there for six months, I’m glad he’s accepted my animal craziness. No other boss I’ve ever had (except the ex-fiancee…but every vet trip I made were for HIS animals) would. He said “Do you think you’ll be here before lunch?” lol

Oh, good, sounds like they are keeping their dominance behaviors in check. Just some basic power plays without aggression. Whew.

Sounds like a great boss! You just never know how people are going to respond and sure is a relief when they seem to understand.
