  I wonder if you can help me. I know rabbits generally grind their teeth softly when they are happy and loudly when they are in pain. Sapphire (2 year old dwarf lop) always grinds her teeth quite loudly but not as loud as she started doing today – it sounds like she’s chewing a carrot and I can hear her from the other side of the room! However she’s laid out and relaxed, she is still affectionate and she’s still eating and pooing. How can I tell if she’s in pain or just really happy?

  Usually there are other indications with tooth grinding – like hunching down or not pooping. You pretty much have to look at the overall behavior rather than just the tooth grinding – much like what you are doing now.
