So since we got her… too long ago… She’s been in a pet carrier.  Which is a pain in the butt, cause I have to clean it out every morning by taking it completely apart and… urg!  It was a pain.  So today my boyfriend finally registered our second car and I got his jeep to go run errands.  First stop, PetSmart!

We got her something she can be in at night, my boyfriend is going to build her a hutch so she can go outside when it isn’t too hot or raining.  So far she likes it… and it seems the kitten likes it too…

It’s big enough that she’ll be comfortable in it for short periods of time.  I kinda fashioned a little hay net out of wiring from an old hamster cage.  I need something to put behind it so the alfalfa doesn’t fall out.  Right now it’s a little piece of cardboard, but she’ll chew that in a heartbeat.

But as you can see, her boo-boo’s are healing quite nicely.

        YAY!

Looks great!!! Make sure you put some towels or something down on the wires so he doesn’t hurt his little footsies!

Another option that is easy to clean up would be to get a piece of linoleum and cut it to fit the inside. The wire bottoms are not good for bunny feet. Since they don’t have foot pads like dogs do, the wire can irritate them and cause “sore hocks” (red, open sores or calloused areas that are very painful). I’m not sure why petstores continue to sell these cages. A solid plastic bottom would be a better alternative.

Hey amazing you know your hay hanger.   I did the same thing with a piece from a birdcage too.  It is also black like  yours. The way I attached it was the side of it to the bunny cage.   It works great.  I took it out tho cuz Ruby was having a hard time getting into her litterbox.  She had grown a tiny bit.

Your pretty little bunny is healing thats so good.  This is the one found loose and injured right?  Lucky bunny lucky you too cuz he will certainly be a joy.  Even with the occassional annoying habit

Yup, she was found. She is starting to grow fuzz where she was injured. We’re so happy she’s doing so well. We’ve already fallen in love.

I saw the hay thing in a few pics on this site. Figured I’d try and see. My boyfriend’s gonna help me fix it so it’s more functional.

That hay setup looks great! I didn’t realize it was actually documented onsite though. Cool! Looks like I need to go brush up on my BB.com help sections familiarity! ^_^
Awes..cute kitten too! My older black cat likes to try and get into the pen with my mini-rex if the door is open, but he’s not one to share with carnivores. He promptly thumps and she backs out! xD
My other cat also tried to play with one of his toys once. He came shooting out of his pen at warp speed, right at the cat…poor thing hasn’t been back in the bunny room since. And this bunny is about half his size!
She is looking very good, TaraBunny!

Here’s some plastic mats to go over the wire floor. They still have slots in them to allow any “extras” to fall through.
