  Help!! My two bunnies Milly and Theo escaped from their pen today and have been on an adventure around the entire house whilst i’ve been at work. They’ve eaten a small bit of a plastic bag, chewed through several wires, but most worryingly of all i think they’ve eaten some tanning lotion. I had a broken bottle of the stuff upstairs which i’d temporarily put on the floor as some of the lotion was on the outside of the bottle, but looking at it now, it’s clean . I think this means one or both of them must have eaten it. Has anyone got any advice on what to do? They’re both shut in their cage now and they’re still eating pellets / hay and seem okay… how long before all the stuff they shouldn’t have eaten will pass through them and i can be sure they’re okay?

  Watch their litter and if they haven’t pooped in 12-24 hours seek a vets help. Also provide lots of water maybe add some organic apple juice (just a bit) to entice them to drink more than normal

  Encourage hay-eating by hand feeding hay. Freshly rinsed wet leafy greens could help increase their water intake.
  
  I don’t know if self-tanning lotion is so toxic if ingested that it warrants treatment with activated charcoal. You could call a vet and ask. Activated charcoal would have to be given very soon after ingestion because it only affects what’s in the GI-canal, not what has been absorbed by the body.
