switching to adult food for 10 months bunny

Hello, I’m new here. I appreciate any help and advice

I only got my bunny around 1 month minus 3 days so I’m very new at bunny related matter

I have recently made a visit to vet and the vet in my city advised me to change my bunny diet to oxbow natural science adult rabbit food  currently he’s eating oxbow essentials young rabbit food but when he was with breeder, he’s eating local type of pellets which is not that great for pet bunny, my bunny still loves this pellet though, gave him sometimes for treats only but not in his foodbowl because he will only eat this pellet not the oxbow one (picky eater)

My question is when i got the natural science one i read the description it is only for rabbit with 1 year+ age and my bunny is only 10 months of age (DOB: 09/03/15) fyi, my bunny really loves alfafa hay as well (he prefers to eat all that non healthy stuffs) and his pee got white residue already so I want to switch his diet to timothy based (adult food)..

Is it okay for bunny under one year to eat the adult rabbit food? I tried giving it to him once mixed with the young rabbit pellet he won’t eat his pellet at all (super picky eater) but afterwards haven’t gave him anymore of the adult pellet, just sticking to the young one for now. 

Another information: where I live in (Indonesia) mostly they sell oxbow products only and in my city there is only 1 vet specialized in rabbit so I can’t ask another vet for opinion. Really appreciate all the help given in this page thank you very much.

It’s fine to switch to an adult food now. You can probably transition away from the alfalfa hay too. The white in the pee isn’t concerning. Rabbits pee out the extra calcium in their bodies.

My problem is he rarely eats hay and I have to put bits of alfafa on his hay rack for him to eat some hay in his rack.

He’s in vet now as he has gas in his stomach. I hope he recovers soon

Oh no, poor dear. I hope he feels better.

How much food are you feeding him? If buns get too many pellets, sometimes they choose that over hay.

I gave him very little pellets around 10-20 grams every day but still he won’t eat much of the hay i don’t really know what to do. Any suggestions on how to get a bunny to eat more hay?

He doesn’t have problems with alfafa though that’s the only hay he loves and he’ll finish all the alfafas i gave him.

Does he like dried herbs? You could sprinkle them on top of the hay as a “topper”.

He loves alfafa, i always put little alfafa here and there on his hay rack but the litlle guy went and pick on the alfafas only and leaving out the rest ?? so i’m having real problem here.

What types of hay have you tried? It doesn’t have to be timothy. You can try orchard, oat, etc. Any type of grass hay that is suitable for horses, actually. Try different cuts too. They will vary is flavor and texture as well.

I would mixed the old food with the new food. I switched my bunny to Timothy hay at 6 months.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions
I just recently got my bunny; so i don’t really know what he eats before.
I forced him to eat by giving him less pellets,limiting his pellets and forced him to eat his hay.
It has worked quite well till now I will soon mix another brand of hay to increase the taste combination prolly it will increase his hay appetite.
