Hi, I was wondering if I should switch my rabbits pellets. He eats the all living things rabbit daily diet dry food, is the type that has the little treats in it. And I’ve heard that this are bad for your bunny. So should I switch his dry food, and if so what type should I switch to. He’s had that type of dry food all his life and he’s four years old so if I don’t know if I should switch it.

        Thanks!

The food you mention doesn’t look crazy bad, the type of food that’s most important to avoid is the bunny mueslis. They have seeds and pieces of dried fruit and the bun will eat selectively and not get all the nutrients it needs. Does your bunny finish all his food or does he leave part of it that never gets eaten?

There are several good brands of bunny food, f ex Supreme Science selective and Oxbow. The best foods are uniform pellets, that stops the bun from selecting only the yummiest pieces. Here’s a whole chart of bunny foods and how bunny appropriate they are: http://www.therabbithouse.com/diet/rabbit-food-comparison.asp

If you do decide to switch your bun over to a new type of food, do it very slowly. Start by mixing in a little bit of the new food with the old and be prepared he won’t be very interested at first. Start the switch when you have like a half a bag left of the old pellets so you can take the transition really slow.
