Super shaky bunnies?!

Hi everyone,
I’ve not been able to find anything on this through google…

Both my little buns had their Myxies and RHD combined vaccinations today, followed by being soaked in fly strike prevention…

A few hours later; they’re ridiculously shaky! Could this be a side effect of any of the treatments they had? They’re never like this, just worried!
They’ve never had a problem with the vets, even when they were spayed/castrated.

Hoping for so e reassurance or any ideas?

Thinking the same Tanlover, Shakes or seizures from exposure to a toxin… What was the fly strike mix ? I have never heard of it being used on bunnies before … I would give your vet a call ASAP and find out what the stuff was.

They’re both on a care plan at the vets which includes their vaccinations, check ups, worming etc.
they had their injections and they also covered them in fly strike prevention that they’re apparently supposed to have every10 weeks throughout the summer. (They’re indoor bunnies but they have a large garden run for when it’s nice & we can watch)
They’ve left me with a couple of prescribed bottles as well, it’s called Rear Guard? Any ideas? If it is that I think I may be taking it straight back to the vets…
I’m guessing from your reactions it’s not a normal reaction to their jabs.

I checked on them throughout the night & thankfully they’re a lot better now…

Hmmm, here in the US we do not vaccinate our buns.

They could have been having a reaction to a vaccination as well I imagine – it’s strange that they both did this though. I looked up Rear Guard, I don’t see any dangerous side effects with rabbits that are common.

Personally, I would call your vet and let them know what happened so they can prepare or at least be aware of this for next time. From what I’m reading, it’s a foam that covers the bum… I see you said soaked with… did they apply it everywhere? I’m not sure the consistency, you may be able to better advise on this, but maybe they both became cold from being wet from the foam? Rabbits temps can fluctuate very quickly AND easy. If they are ever wet, they should be wrapped in a towel or on a heating pad or dried off relatively quickly to ensure their body temps do not drop.

What about the possibility of them ingesting this? I would definitely follow up with your vet and let them know.

If your rabbits are indoors and kept clean, fly strike preventatives aren’t really necessary, so maybe next time you might opt out of this treatment and see if the shaking still occurs?

LEL, I see she said they go outside in her garden sometimes… I’m not sure if that warrants fly strike protection? My buns are all indoor only buns.
