Suddenly overly clingy

So at first we thought “aww how cute, he’s become so cuddly!” but its gotten increasingly irritating and slightly worrying. When we first got Kern he was a loving rabbit but never like this. Lately he has been jumping up on my fiance’s chest and licking him non stop! Not exaggerating lol. And while doing this he poops the entire time, he even peed on my fiance the other day. I mean this isn’t an issue with him being cuddly, its quite cute actually. But the peeing and pooping worries me a bit. And it seems that this is the only way he will poop and pee while being out of his cage. We have litter boxes out and he never had issues before. He would jump in his cage, do his business then jump back out and continue playing. Not anymore though. This first started when my fiance got pneumonia December 20th. At first we thought he was doing it because he knew he was sick and wanted to take care of him. But is hasn’t stopped so no idea why he is doing it 

Is it possible something medical may be going on? He eats hay, drinks water and eats his greens/pellets everyday. He’s happy and playful and overall seems in perfect heath. I just cant figure out why his personality changed so drastically suddenly. He is neutered and has been since we got him in May of 2013. Weather change maybe? We live in lower Michigan.

My fiance isn’t concerned but I cant help but worry at the littlest  things

Yes he is. He was neutered when we got him from the humane society in May of 2013.

Strange. For now I would limit his access to areas outside his cage and keep him more confined. Don’t let him on the couch, for example, and if he jumps on your fiancee’s chest, set him back on the floor. It could be that he just needs to break this pattern to go back to himself.

This may sound weird, and I have nothing to back it up other than a gut feeling…

Could Kern be trying to help your fiance restore a healthy beneficial bacteria balance? Possibly ever since your fiance had pneumonia he just hasn’t smell right to Kern. First your fiance will have smelled of the infection, then after the antibiotics work he may smell like he is lacking the bacteria to help him digest his food. Bunnies will eat each others poops to restore gut flora. Kern may be trying to help you fiance’s gut flora.

Possibly giving you fiance probiotics (you can get them as a powder, or in yogurts) might make him smell healthy to Kern again.

Wow I never thought of that! It doesn’t sound weird at all, in fact I was thinking that was the main reason he started doing it in the first place but I never would have thought about him still not smelling right to Kern now that he feels better.. My fiance doesn’t eat yogurt or anything in shake form so I will have to try and get him to take some vitamins and see if that helps.

He didn’t do the crazy lick attacks today while he was out, he managed to stay busy playing and never had any interest in cuddling. So maybe..hopefully he is good now lol. I mean the licking is adorable, just the side effects of him licking is not wanted lol.

my Lucky is like this. He goes through spurts of overly affectionate. I only got him in September, but once he warmed up (which was rather quickly) he was very much into licking me. He does it multiple times a day. Some days though, instead of me laying on the ground…he will just get on the couch and not leave me alone! It just depends on his mood I suppose. But, as adorable as it is, the aggressive affection is kind of annoying lol. Maybe you just have a very loving bunny!
