Sudden Awful Behavior

I have had few problems since moving Maruchan to be cage free, however everything changed just over the past few days.

At first it was just that I noticed she was peeing AROUND the litterbox on the mat her things are on top of, which is bad soaking down to the carpet in our rental apartment,
So I thought she wanted a bigger litter box. I took away the small, high corner litter box and replaced it with a slightly larger rectangle box.
That lasted one day because she got in and dug up all the litter as well as tried to move it away from the wall to pee on the carpet in the corner.
So I took it away and out the small high corner one back, but mow she takes that one too and tries to throw it away from the wall.

Lately she also hasn’t wanted to be picked up and is trying desperately to get on all the furniture. I’m at my wits end here, we never had problems since going cage free. She’s hasn’t been spayed yet, would that help with these specific things? She’s over a year old so I don’t think it’s puberty.

Any changes in her food or type of litter?

Any changes to your home in past few days?

New visitors? Or have you visited others were you interacted with their pets?

Yes spaying will help! Besides the health stuff which is very important, she’s a restless sexually mature animal-so definitely spay.

Now she’s gone through a few changes-cage free and a change in litter box (and back again)-these could be contributing to what you’ve seen and may settle as she gets used to this arrangement and is spayed; however you may want to get the vet sooner than later as sudden beahaviour changes can be a medical issue too.

She’s been cage free about 2 months now.

I noticed she was peeing kind of around the litter box for maybe a month, so I bought the bigger box then switched back.

No changes to the food or litter but I was thinking maybe it’s the new roommates dog? She only met the dog once and DID NOT like her although she’s been fine with other dogs. Since then she hasn’t seen the dog, but I though maybe she’s really mad about that since meeting her?

She could be picking up on hormones if the dog is intact.
(We’ve even read accounts of rabbits picking up on their owners pregnancy.)
Or she’s just viewing it as an intruder.

It could also be from changes within her internally. If you are planning to have her spayed, I’d certainly look into it now.
