Background Information: I work full time at a coffee chain, and I am in training for a supervisor position. Due to this, my shifts vary, so I never know when I will have a day off or what time I will be working. I just so happen to recovering from a 11pm-7am shift, so Smushy (bun) came out to visit with me around 3am this morning.

The Problem: Around 5am, Smushy pooped out his cecotropes onto the bed, and acted like it was a regular poop. He did not sniff them, he did not attempt to eat them. He just walked away and continued playing. They appeared to be regular, healthy cecotropes, and I have never found cecotropes in his litter box before, so to my knowledge, he usually eats them. Did he do this because it was very early in the morning and he was already active? Is there another logical explanation? Or should I be concerned?

I just found that no one answered this — how is your bunny doing now? Many times the reason that cecotropes are left behind is because diet is too rich. If that is not the case and it never happened again, then it was just a bunny fluke.
