Strange things you say to your bunnies

Admit it. Most (if not all!) of us talk to our bunnies sometimes. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever said to your rabbit?

For me…

While a rabbit is licking me and hopping all over me: ”Hey! Look who’s a BUNNY! Look who’s a rabbit! IT’S YOU! YOU’RE the rabbit! You’re a bunny!”

While opening the rabbit room doors and having a bunny come up to greet me: “There’s…a LAGOMORPH in here!”

Hahaha, we say stuff like that all the time.

“What are those?! Those are rabbits! Did you know we have rabbits in the house?!”

I like to sing Copa Cabana to Otto – my mom used to sing it to our dogs back in the day and it stuck with me. “His name is Otto, he was a show bun, but that was many years ago when they used to have a show … “

Sometimes when I get up in the morning and see them, I go “Well hello, Mr. and Miss Bunny!”

And then sometimes I’ll say to Stan, “Look! It’s a tiny woodland creature. Where did that come from??!”

Others –

“My *goodness* what silly bunnies!”

“Remy, do you love your sister?”

“Why hello, Mr. Remy. What a *good* bunny. Yes!”

“Miss Momo! Miss, Miss, Miss Momo!”

“May I have a kissy? Thank you *so* much for the kisses! Yes, such nice kisses!”

“Who loves you? Who loves our little buns? Mama loves you!”

And so many more. Now I’m embarrassed.

“Who’s the bunny? Are you the bunny? Are you the big, bad bunny?”

“Hello Boy-bies!” used to be “hello girlies” – we all know rabbits are prone to gender confusion

“I is peeping at you! I am! I can see a bunny!”

“Look! It’s the Bun Bun Bears!”

“Wabbity! Wabbity! Here wittle wabbit!” They never, ever come here.

And other such slightly strange things. I mainly just give them a running commentary on everything while they’re around!

“Mama loves you! Mama loves you so much!!” *KISS BUNNY HEAD*

“Cutie Nethie! Awww! So cutes!!”

“Aww, wook whose in PUFF BALL MODE!!!” (All limbs tucked under)

“Hi da baby!”

“You mommys wittle girl.” 

“The Koucha bun, the baby bun!”

This ones is for all my furrys when i come home from work “heya boys did yall miss your mommy ?” then its goingaround the house kissing each one..to clarify thats 2 doxies1 cat and the buns.(.cough we have 2 more as of yesterday)

“Well well Mr Dexter why are you rattling the bars do you want to play ?”

“gimmie a kiss please please aww thank you”

“Whos the sweetest bunny in the world ? you are, yes you are”

while cleaning the cage im saying” aww you left this for me ? so sweet” and the” I think you like to watch me work “line

“Who wants a numnum ? “

“come here fluffy butt momma wants lovins”

To the new babies i asked them today after work

“What have you been doing today ?huh, ohh pooing ? very nice work guys”

“Wheres my little hershey pershey cookies and cream..??”

^^ i just realised how i got that!! O_o hershey’s makes the cookies and cream chocolate bar.. i’m smart

“Miss Twixy-Kins, What my baby, Why you so sad darling?”

“Bunnies, Where are my bunny babies?? Furry little critters they are, Where are you??”

“Bundles of trouble, Furry Little Bundles Of Trouble”

Also, just to add to the giggles,

“Was that yummy? Yummy in your bunny tummy?”

“Oooh… nom nom nom nom nom!”

“How does so much poo come out of such little rabbits? Huh? Little poo machines!”

Well, when Moose is in loaf mode, I always say “Moosie has no feets!!”

And then there is “Smudgie wudgie is a bunny! Smudgie wudgie’s very funny” just in case she forgot what she is.

Monkey is “itty bitty pretty bunny butt”

And of course “Who wants nommies?” *bunnies get excited* “What, nobunny wants nommies? Guess mommy gets them then!” *monkey or smudge thumps.. always happens* “Ooo I hear a hungry bunbunbutt”

I have several others that I can’t remember off hte top off my head

Our buns respond so well to tone of voice and familiar sounds and words. Whenever I’m preparing their vegetables, they hear it and wait at the edge of the kitchen for me. And when I say “Bunbuns!” they come running because they know that that usually means they’re going to get a treat!

Hahaha! Puff ball mode! Now whenever I see my bunnies doing that I will say something along those lines. I love it!

Ok some things I say are:

“Come here you little puff butt!”

“You are so puffy! Puff! Puff!” – I say this as I pat Ferns puffy butt.

“Hey Ferny Fern Fern! Ferny who goes on a journey!”

“Thistle the whistle” Or “Thisy whisy”

“Who’s a silly girl? Hmm? You, you. Uh huh, you.”

“Why are you so silly, hmm?”

“You’re too curious! Too curious!” – as she jumps on the pile of clothes hidden in my cupboard when I open the door to get some clothes.

“Aww are you doing a loaf? Loafy!” (when they do a bunny loaf or go into “puff ball mode”)

“You two really love each other don’t you? Hmm?

It’s not really what I say to them it’s how I say them. I don’t ever speak grown up english to them…lots of baby talk..and when they talk back I like to give them funny french or british accents. Bud always gets the french accent and halo depends on what shes doing.

When she is being bad i make her sound like a french criminal “ah huh huh I’m going to eat yo carpet an dijest eet”
I always say to her “whos a cutie wootie bunny wabbit halers is a cutie wootie bunny wabbit YES YOU ARE!!”

I’ve been thinking about this and have been really conscience of what I say to our buns….

And Halo’s nose goes about a mile a minute…it doesn’t even stop wiggling when she is sleeping (too cute, makes my heart melt every time) but anyway I was petting her last night and her nose was going really fast and I said “look at those nose go, look at it go, we’re gonna need some ritalin for your nose. Yes we are ah yes we are” Eric (hubby) just looks over at me and says “you’re strange you know that?” and I just laughed…cause he says some pretty ridiculous things to them too…

Question: Do any of your buns purr when you tell them you love them? Cause I’ve noticed mine do…and it’s kind of lke they are saying “I love you too” (probably while thinking “alright now…i was cute gimmie a carrot” lol)

Ha! Yes, totally. They’ll be staring at me, and when I start talking to them like a doofus, they often start purring back at me. It’s CUTE!
