For Foofy’s surgery they had to shave his stomach. I have noticed some white scaly skin there. I obviously can’t tell if it is on other parts of his body–I don’t feel it at least. It really looks like dry skin, but it seems a bit more attached than human dry skin. I was thinking this might be due to the fur.

Has anyone had this occur? When he goes in for his check-up I will ask the doc, but I was thinking that someone here has got to have seen this before. I am thinking that it could be as a result of the shaving. It doesn’t seem to bother him. Does anyone know if there is some sort of moisturizer that I could use?

        Thanks,
        Shannan, Foofy and Loppy-Loo

Sounds like dry skin but I’m definitely not sure-when is his check up?

It does sound like the sensitive skin that was exposed is now peeling off, do not pull it off and be sure to check with your vet when go in. I am also thinking, has your rabbit been licking that spot a lot? That could aggrivate it and cause this problem and dry out the skin and make it peel. You can try some 100% pure aloe vera gel on it, if it is just dryness. Of course check with your vet.

I just wanted to add, be sure to use 100% pure aloe vera gel, no dyes, no perfumes or petroleum distillates etc. as the danger is that the rabbit will most likely lick it off and ingest it and 100% pure aloe vera is O.K. but not the other kinds sold in stores for “sun burn treatment” with all sorts of junk in it.
