  I noticed yesterday a hard spot on the side of Edson’s stomach. In fact his stomach feels rather hard. It seems to come and go. I have never felt this before. Of course I can’t get into my vet today (which reallys annoys the heck out of me) and Dr. Scheenstra is on vacation! What could this be? I’m so freaked out about the possibility of GI stasis but he’s eating and drinking normally and his poops are normal. He acts completely normal but he does not want to be touched around his sides and stomach. And I keep touching them to see if it’s still there! Help!

  It’s possible what you are feeling is normal. He may just not want you squeezing his sides and stomach anymore.
  
  If he’s eating and drinking and acting completely normal he’s probably fine. He’s not posturing or acting like he’s in pain is he?

  Really? Maybe it was just a rib sticking out because of his position? I thought I read on one of these posts that their stomachs should be “doughy”. I think I’m being so paranoid. I made a vet appt for Saturday anyway. He hasn’t seen the vet since last November so I might as well get a check-up before I leave for 10 days. No he is not in any weird posture. Flopping as usual.

  That’s a good idea before you go on vacation.
  
  Get the vet to show you how to palpate his stomach – Edson will hate it but at least you will know exactly where and what you are supposed to be feeling.

  You know, I have done the exact same thing. You’d think I’d know my bunnies inside and out, but sometimes how they are sitting can make their rib cage stick out a bit more. I feel around, feel around and then freak, and then they adjust and it’s all good. But what concerns me is that Edso doesn’t want to be touched there. Does he normally allow you to touch him there? Does he hop around differently?
  
  It doesn’t seem like he is pain and since he is acting normally. But did you tell the vet’s office that he is seeming uncomfortable when you touch there? Maybe they would try and squeeze you in then.
