I just got my 7 month old lionhead, Moose, neutered yesterday. Since he has gotten back, his pellets have a very strong odor. What could be causing that?

          Hi Marlena,
It’s quite normal for the boys to actually have a brief surge of hormones follwoing neuter so it could cause some stinky poops for a couple of weeks (which is why they should still be separated from any unspayed females for 4-5 weeks after). As his system settles down it should subside.
Usually takes a month before the hormones receed so some behaviors could stay around for a little while too…

Thank you for your reply. I was just worried something may be wrong because his poos have never smelled like this before!

              No Problem Marlena…
2 of my boys Starsky and Pascal dropped some real snorters post neuter… I remember Starsky did one the next day and I looked at him and told him “I did not believe that had just come out of him” it was disgusting and stank out the sunroom…. Starsky actually seemed delighted with his stink bomb and did some ear wriggles and a bit of a binky shuffle as if to say “Yup, That was me, I did that”
