Hi everyone! New rabbit owner here. Got my first girl, Stevie, in early November from a friend who more or less just dropped her off with me. Never thought I’d own rabbits, but Stevie has proven to be a great emotional support bunny.

She’s sweet, but rambunctious as all hell. Very curious, and smart. She’s about four months old now, and she was litter trained just two days after I got her. Super sweet and affectionate, I soon realized that Stevie couldn’t be left alone for too long. Especially when I’d have long work days she would be depressed, and give me the cold shoulder when I’d get home. Realizing she needed someone to keep her company while I’m away, in came Wednesday!

I got Wednesday from a local rabbit rescue. She’s about ten months old. Though Wednesday is a lot more skittish and shy, they’ve been bonding rather quickly. The only problem that’s come up is Stevie is just too social and wanted to be close with Wednesday right away, and Wednesday wanted her space. It didn’t take long for her to warm up to Stevie though. Now they lounge and sleep together, no problem.

I’m still waiting for Wednesday to show her personality a little more, but she seems sweet once she starts to trust someone.

I was a little concerned about Stevie being territorial at first, but there were no problems with that. In fact, Wednesday was a little too scared to approach the food bowls, so Stevie brought some greens over to her on the first night. There has been some chasing, mounting, and other dominant behavior, but I’m still kind of surprised at how quickly Stevie took to her new friend.

Hi and welcome to Binky Bunny! If Stevie is only 4 months old, I assume she hasn’t been spayed yet, but she will soon be going into a hormone driven “teenage” period, which could mean aggression and fighting with Wednesday, which can lead to injuries, so you probably should keep them close but separated until Stevie has had her spay surgery. Since Wednesday came from a rabbit rescue, she is likely already spayed, but if not, she will need to be spayed too. The first step in bonding is for all rabbits to be spayed or neutered, then after a recuperation period, they can begin the bonding process.
