This morning my rabbit didn’t make his usual morning “shake the pen in the room to make someone bring food at 6am”. I gave him pellets around 9. He was slow to get up and come for them, but started eating. I went back 15 mins later and he was hunched up in the litter box and hadn’t finished his pellets. Immediately called the vet for an emergency visit, he had xrays, she said there was no obstruction but she could see his stomach was a little distended and he was gassy. She said I caught it early, gave me benebac, cisapride, critical care, and he got fluids when he was there.
He still seems really out of it, not doing any better, actually seems a bit worse, but I also noticed his side seems to be sagging? I feel like it wasn’t like that before or this morning. It just feels like loose skin, but it’s scaring the hell out of me because I swear I don’t remember seeing it?
He seems to have passed a mushy poop – looked like just cecotropes, and he’s hopped out of his house once and just kind of sat there swaying a bit before hopping back in and laying down.
