OMG~~~
My room is SO DISGUSTING!!!!
Got a good chunk of carpet up already, and my old dresser and the IndyBun Mansion is off to the dump
I don’t want to use the mansion anymore because they just claw the wire if they are in it and I can’t sleep …no use keeping it around. Sigh. What a waste.
Anyways – I’m keeping my fish tank ….still deciding to redo the tank with black sand and get some red cap oranda goldfish in there or keep my oscar. Decisions decisions~
Oh…and I have help of course.
BEFORE:
Now…not done of course —just started!!
I have to get this foam up before they try to do it themselves…
“wHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!?!”
XD
Bumble is being a huge help right now. Not even afraid of the hammer and crow bar im using to pull up the nail strips from the carpet. She’s crazy. It’s official.
Sooo…..are they doing ok with the changes? Can’t wait to see it all finished!
I ask cause Eddie would’ve been a confused grumpy butt about it. But then, he was like that all the time. Lolli would’ve been racing around, doing binkies. “PUT IT ALL BACK! NOWWWW!!!” Dashes for cover. “MOOOOMMMMMM!!!! What’re we doing next?!” binky binky binky
And um…..where are the rest of the bunnies? Did I miss something? lol
The trio was moved into the aviary in the double doored section where the birds were. So there is no chance anything could get in there and harm them.
My back is killing me~~~
No they seem happy to have some new areas to explore and Bumble has been constantly in the way checking everything out that I do. I would have moved them into the family room for the time being if they were upset.
Oh and I am a bit annoyed……dad said no new flooring unless no rabbits live in my room. So I am going to buy a huge rug again and put it in the middle and just pretend to not see that hideous tile stuff. Sigh.
Oh and you know how I always said Bagheera was weird and never left his litterbox ….well he binks around all over and is constantly hoping around in the aviary. The light bulb went on in my head….he didn’t like the slippery tiles I had in the Indy mansion …..I feel like an idiot….but I am glad he is happy now. What a dunce I am!!!
I’m really hating pulling out these strips of wood that are covered in nails. I keep stabbing myself ![]()
Put some work gloves on
It helps ![]()
I did the same when I pulled my old carpet up. I also had a light bulb moment, it is looking great!
I love this part of makeovers! I think Indy and Bee need some little yellow hard hats though.
Don’t get rid of the Indybun mansion! Seriously, store it somewhere for now of you’re not going to use it. If it did fit back in the room after, could Bun use it or would she be noisy in there too?
Is the floor linoleum? You can paint lino floors but it needs a decent amount of time for the paint to properly cure to be hard-wearing. Probably more trouble then it’s worth. You want notice the floor pattern too much once the furniture is in. Plus it’ll be so easy to clean up hay!
The trio was moved into the aviary in the double doored section where the birds were
Ahh ok! I just wondered. lol
Too late Jersey…..dad took it with him to dump in his work sites trash ![]()
Oo, I love makeovers!
Could you get new stick on lino? It’s cheap and you could do it yourself, so your dad shouldn’t have a problem with it. I saw some on a blog the other day that looked like a wood floor, but was just stick on tiles. I’m planning to do something similar when we move into our new house because we don’t have the money to rip up the lino yet, but I hate what’s currently there.

I just went through this for the buns. I’m about 90% done remodelling the buns room in the basement.
Before:

So far:

Before:

So far:

It’s split in half. Addie and Ben get one whole side and Nessa and Vin get the other. Just those grids keep the 2 pairs separated. They can’t get traction to jump over top of them.
The hardwood I put down, I was a bit worried at first that the buns wouldn’t like it because of it being slippery. I found these 2′ x 2′ foam mats at Home Depot. A 4 pack was about $17. All the buns except for Ben got use to the wood pretty quick but I still wanted something down to protect it. Addie is just horrible with her litter habits so a rug wouldn’t cut it; I needed something waterproof.

You were saying about Bagherra never leaving the litter… our Ben is the exact same way. He wouldn’t get out of the litter. Even after I put down the foam mat. The foam isn’t slippery, but it must be just smooth enough that he still didn’t want nothing to do with them. I searched around town for some with grip (for Ben) but still waterproof (for Addie) and had no luck.
So I got on Ebay and actually found the foam mats but with a carpet top. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but those are still the 2′ x 2′ squares. There’s 3 rows by 3 rows. The carpet top is real real short, so when Addie pee’s I can simply wipe it up with a rag.

I don’t know how much a big area rug would cost, but maybe the mats would be another option for you?
Wow Mr. Bill! That is truly amazing! The set up and the paint is a great shade and very easy on the eyes *taking notes*
Mr Bill – looks very good! Love the color shade but then I am partial to blues. lol

Hogeeze, Lin, I understand you didn’t have the room for it, but seriously…I should come down there and thump you for that! I wish I could’ve paid to have that dismantled, boxed and shipped up here, that’s exactly the kind of condo I’m going to need for my three when I get them into one space.
I suppose the wood was too badly stained to be used for anything else?
I sympathize on the disgusting room comment though… *nods* It’s amazing what you find when you start moving things that have been stuck in one place for a long time. I’m discovering that the hard way in my house…not just grime and muck, but it WOULD have to be the Summer of the Spiders up my way…YYEEEEEEAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH! Break out the Sunday Editions!
I want either new linoleum or just to tear up carept in our front room, but there’s no new flooring till my cats are gone at this point.
They’re both seniors and so messy that anything we put down now would be in miserable shape before winter was over.
Did you still have the Oscar in your tank? You are speaking new fishy names I don’t recognize.

What about the peel and stick linoleum for the time being? You can get it fairly cheap and it does come back up easily by warming them up a touch with a heat gun.
Ooo, that’s looking good Mr Bill! I noticed the wooden hay racks. Did you make those?
@Lintini, ditto MM’s thump. RIP IndyBun Mansion.
*bump*
Should we maybe send in a search party?
Tearing down a room is one thing. It’s quite another to build it back up again and then move in a huge cherrywood bedroom set. 0_o I can imagine Lin’s got her hands full!
LOL guys~~~~
I went camping with my boyfriend
My room is still a MESS, but the bed is in…no blankets yet.
Carpet is gone!!! My room smells SO much better wow! My carpet was horrible!
We are getting the dresser next weekend, luckily my bf helped my dad with the bed, it took 2 pickup trucks to bring it back! My dad got the flu but still picked up the bed for me.
Bed’s here…….and half my room is now gone. …ooo I found a cute blanket set on overstock.com 8 piece set for 90$ for cali king. not bad!
Wow Mr. Bill, your new remodel looks fantastic!!!!!
Mimz – no the Indy Mansion was fine, I had it lined with sticky linoleum and the stink binks used their litterbox perfectly. I just didn’t have room for it with the new furniture.
That is one giant bed! How much space do you have around it? And most importantly, can Indy and Bee still jump up on it? Looks like a bed made for hiding under.
I’ll show you Indy and Bee’s new setup after I clean up a bit more….you don’t want to know what my family room looks like. I was so embarassed letting my boyfriend see my room like this. Ugh.
Plus I had this pillow top on my old bed and it had so many pee stains from somebunny I made my dad and him leave the room so I could take it off myself. I was only able to clean it with 409 or simple green and so it was pretty much a disaster and it went to the dump. How embarrassing. I’ve been pretty much living with my boyfriend and only coming home daily to care for my fish and bunnies. I was just tired of looking at my room and all the hair everywhere. My room was a great example of how easily things can get out of hand if you don’t properly clean your room with 6 rabbits -.- No wonder my parents were so pissed at me constantly. I am embarrassed to type this even.
I am just a bit in shock how bad I let the rabbits take over, and how much in denial I was in that my room was sort of clean…..
More pix to come of a cleaner room
Mr. Bill – Bagheera, Lion, and Velvet are now in a 10’x10′ aviary and the floor is just wood and he’s hopin all over like it’s the best thing ever. They have been really good about peeing in their boxes, there is poopies around but easily swept up. I am guessing still because it’s a new area and their girlfriend Velvet moved in and the more poops around maybe the more impressed she will be?? lol I am glad your rabbits like your new flooring you found for them. It’s really neat. Someday when I have my own place I want a bunny room like yours. Which I still need to take a picture of too for you all.
Ah god I should just buy that cheap lino that you can buy for like 40 cents a piece!!! great idea!! I don’t like how dirty the tile looks even though its just the color. its pretty ugly! I saw some boxes of it for like 15$
Dad was laying down that kind that looks like wood – my brother has it in his room now. We did pergo in the downstairs and it really hasn’t done that well, it’s bubbled up in places and was hard to put in. But dad’s deal was that no fishtank or bunnies in my room for new flooring. NO DEAL. I shall do it myself!
overstock.com is the best haha
Almost done!! Dresser comes into my room Saturday!! Switched over the aquariums, I posted in a thread that I setup my tube hexagon tank. It’s awesome I am so glad that my dad said I could put it back up!!! The 50 gallon is going on craigslist.
wooooooo!!! One piece of carpet left under the 50 gallon!!
Oh I’ve seen some real nice looking p&s flooring that looks like wood. They weren’t squares. They were long, probably around 3 feet, and looked like boards. If I recall, it didn’t even stick to the floor. It was floating. It just had like one top lip and one side lip with adhesive and you stuck it to the next piece.
Hugs Lintini. Don’t feel bad. You did the best you could with a lot of buns in a small space and a busy schedule. And when you’re in the middle of something, you don’t always see it. At least everything is going to be fresh now and easier to clean up after. Get yourself some swiffers and you’ll be in good shape.
I only fully clean the bunny room about once a month now (I used to do every other week but finding the time is tough). And by fully clean I mean remove the xpen, pull back the rug, vacuum corners, walls, etc… How these bunnies get fur stuck to the wall 8 feet up I’ll never understand. But anyways, it’s so much easier to do a quick clean-up, especially with so many bunnies. Now hopefully it will be easier for you to do a full clean more often.
You will be getting a waterproof mattress cover for that bed, right?
My rabbits no longer have free range of my room, I would die if they ruined my new furniture. They completely chewed up my old headboard and dresser.
I made my own video tour. My room isn’t done yet but it’s cleaner!
Lol, “Like my french horn lamp!?”
Looks good! I love your bed and dresser! And did I see BB up on your computer? lol
Carpet makes a huge difference. When I moved into my first apartment, every time it got damp from it raining, it would smell like wet dog. Ewww. And apparently there had never been pets in that apartment. EWWWWWWW!!! Took like 3 separate Febreeze dousings before it quit smelling quite as bad.
Looks great!!! Question… could the closet doors be removed from the track easily and stowed away? Do kind of an “open concept” for the buns?
Thats a great idea Beka, I never thought of that. I will ask my brother to take them off today for me or show me how!
That bed is ginormous! Looks very comfy.
Haha Bee looks so disapproving
Your room looks great
Fishy seems to be happy. I really like the tank!
Your room looks great! So happy for you and glad that awful smell is gone. Oscar looks comfy in his 80-gal fish tank – that’s a lot of room for him and the water looks great, so do the rocks and everything. And bunnies and doggie looks happy! Was that a re-affirming bark at the end? LOL
Congratulations! …on the new bed and new dresser – they look beautiful!
If your buns have any accidents on your bed or anything that is impossible to launder like your pillow top was a good thing to clean it with is nature’s miracle. My ex had cats and his cat jumped in the middle of our bed and peed right there in the center, HUGE yellow stain and it smelled awful… soaked into the mattress stuffing and everything. His mother poured Nature’s Miracle onto the bed and let it soak in and then dry out naturally and it removed the stain and the smell, saved the mattress for sure! That is why I now keep a bottle in the house at all times lol
Your new setup looks nice
the stick-on tile that looks like wood is what I had in my room at my parents house, it’s not bad. After a bit the edges start to come up though if you don’t prime the floor before you put it down.
Looks great!! I love the furniture, though it sure is huge 🙂
Now that I see it with the big bed and everything it’s hard to believe the Indybun mansion used to fit! I’m curious about the aviary too!
