  The local Tractor Supply is now selling the compressed bales by Standlee Hay. Standlee has very high quality hay, their cubes and pellets are great, so when I saw the compressed bales I was super excited. They’re great for people with limited space, as the bale is only about 3 ft tall by 2 ft wide.. and weighs at least 60lbs, I’d wager. It’s SUPER DUPER DUPER compressed. .
  
  It’s very high quality hay too, very clean and dust-free. No weeds. No too expensive either, about $16 for the very heavy bale. Zeus loves it too, that’s a big plus since he’s so picky. .
  
  It comes in a few “varieties”.. alfalfa, timothy, and alf/grass mix. They also sell a few other kinds but my local TSC only has those 3. I actually opted for the alf/mix bale, because it’s only 30% alfalfa, and Zeus has never been a fan of straight timothy. The alf/mix is alfalfa, timothy, and orchard.
  
  Just thought I’d give a heads up of this awesome hay and a review! It’s definitely picky-bun approved.

  Ah Standlee! That’s the company I was trying to remember a few weeks ago. Someone was asking about making bunny cookies and I mentioned a pure hay pellet. They do a pure timothy hay pellet don’t they?

  Yup they do. I buy them for Zeus, he has a dish full of timothy pellets at all times, he grazes on them like he does his hay. Zeus is a Standlee bunny!

  Thanks for the tip! I’m going to call my local Tractor Supply first thing in the morning to see if they carry them. I’m having a horrible time find hay around me.

  Any way to order online perchance?

  Thought I’d post this and let you all decide for yourselves . . .
  
  I started looking around online for other reviews on the Standlee hay and looking to see if they do orchard grass hay. I came across Standlee Jojo’s best hay so I called the company to see how the compressed bales compared to Jojo’s best. This is what they told me:
  – the compressed bales are a lower grade of hay than Jojo’s and are intended for livestock and not small pets (Jojo’s has a guaranteed min nutrition breakdown)
  – the compressed bales have a lower nutritional value and while some people feed their small pets this hay, it would not be good for them if its the main part of their diet (75%)
  – Jojo’s is hand sorted to ensure super premium quality and compressed bales are processed in a manufacturing plant and packaged by weight only (not hand-inspected)
  – Jojo’s is sold on their website (cheaper but they charge shipping) and on Amazon (more expensive but usually no shipping chgs). Amazon orders from them weekly and all hay is from the current 2014 hay harvest. Timothy is 2nd cutting, orchard is 1st cutting (they did not get a 2nd cutting of orchard this year). The hay is grown in Idaho.
  
  I don’t know how much was “real” and how much was pushing me toward the super premium line. I’m thinking about giving it a try (I’ve ordered everyone else’s hay this year so why not!)

  I order Jojo’s best on Amazon and it is AMAZING!!! Always amazing quality, my bunnies love it and super green And fresh!

  I was looking up the Amazon link and found where the Jojo’s description says it can be fed “up to 10% of the diet”. Huh? Any idea why, when hay should be like 75% of bunny’s diet? Going to email them this weekend because that makes no sense!

  Going to lock this thread since it’s old and we have another thread that is going on about this exact same thing.
  
  And JR I don’t understand why a hay company would only say 10% of the diet either since hey, they are selling hay! I understand a company that sells only pellets doing this, but not a hay company :~) Weird.
