I have schedule Samantha’s surgery for the end of May.  We have family visiting from out of town that weekend.  I am considering rescheduling the surgery for September.  However, i won’t reschedule, if it is better t do it now.

Sam is 18-20 months old.  She weighs between 2.5 and 3 pounds, she is a dwarf.  I do wonder where God stuffed all her attitude in such a small package.

Would there be any significant increase in risk having the surgery at 24 months versus 20?

        Thanks,
        Mark

There wouldn’t/shouldn’t be a difference in risk. While it is true that it is best to get your bun spayed earlier in life than later, 24 months shouldn’t matter when compared to 20 months. If she is currently healthy, then I would only reschedule for a later spay date if you think the family visiting would stress her out.

Banks is a Dwarf just a heads up- they don’t take spaying so well. Being small they can have more complications/dislike the anesthetic more. Just make sure you have the time to sit with her when she comes home and at least the next day. We had to take banks back and get her some injections because she wouldn’t eat to take her pain or gut meds.
