  Hi guys – I’m planning to adopt a bunny who has just given birth (will wait till all her kits are weaned).
  
  Just wondering if there is a waiting period before I can get her spayed? Thanks!

  Not many of us have much experience with most anything baby bunny related, but I don’t think there is any wait time. If there were any complications, possibly, but otherwise I don’t think so. Hopefully someone with more experience here will post-you might consider asking the rescue this question too!

  I don’t have any experience with pregnant bunnies either but I’m sure if you tell the vet that she just finished weaning her babies that they could do a check on her to make sure she’s physically fit for the surgery!
  
  Cause if she isn’t then it’s just a check up fee and another date for the surgery and if she is great!
  
  Having little baby bunnies around newly out of surgery mom might be a bad thing if they try playing with her while she isn’t feeling well though
  
  So I’d probably make sure the babies can be separate from mom for a while while she heals
  
  Just a thought. Not sure if that’d be something thay could cause discomfort to the surgery wound, maybe something else to ask the vet
  
  Edit: I don’t even know if you’re bringing the babies with you or not I realized so that might not even be an issue.

  Is the rescue not going to be getting her spayed before she is adopted out?
  
  I would think certainly once you have adopted her, the kits will obviously be weaned and they will no longer be around her so it will be safe to have her spayed whenever you like after you bring her home. I would recommend waiting at least a week though, just so that she can settle into her new home and be comfortable there before putting her through the surgery, that way she only has the one stress at a time, not a brand new home and the next day surgery and pain etc.
  
  Some vets require a visit for a health check etc, before the date of the surgery if they haven’t seen the bun before, so just check with your vet regarding that.
