        Hello,
last week on Tuesday Toffee was spayed. She was eating as usual by wednesday afternoon (about 24 hours after surgery). I am supposed to go to the vet with her on Friday to remove stitches. I check them everyday. Today I noticed the bottom part of the stitches is red and a bit swollen I guess?

I don’t know if that’s alright or not? Should I go to the vet with her? I don’t want to take her there unnecessarily since I have to go by bus for 20 minutes which would be stressing for her.

She might be reacting to the stuff they use for the outer stitches. It didn’t appear too bad, I mainly could only really see the blue material!

Has she been licking the site at all? That can get it looking more red.

It’s not uncommon to get a bit of “bunching” or the skin at the end of the incision site. My first rabbit had that. She has glue but I could see the very end opened a little and I could spot the end of the inner stitches. I rang the clinic to describe it and they’d told me not to worry.

Could you ring them then sent the photo via email?
