Spay Infection?

Hello everyone.
I have contacted the vet about this several times via pictures (at their request). Yesterday the vet said it looked “scabbed” which was normal, I resent photos to a different vet at the clinic to get a second opinion and am waiting to hear back.

I could just be really overly motherly with her, which wouldn’t be new, but I just want to make sure this is normal as this is my first spay.
She was spayed on Friday. It seemed like it went really well. She “bounced” back within a couple of days. Was eating normal Saturday night.

To describe yesterday & today: Yesterday the incion looked a little “wet”, not “pus-like” but more “milky” and it was sitting right where the “hole” is in the picture. Then in the afternoon it was slightly yellow and crusted on the outside and dark as it is in the picture. What it looks like to me (and I know I could be completely wrong as I am not for certain), but it looks like the incision has come apart. I can see a hole which is dark. I’m not sure if it is suppose to be a line or not.
Today looks the same- not wet, but crusted and again the hole, etc.
Sorry, one of the photos is really blurry- she doesn’t want to sit still She seems to be action completely normal.

I would definitely see if you can get her checked out by a vet right away. It looks almost as if one of the sutures came loose…she sure is cute

Any word back from the vet?

I actually have a pic of Marlee’s incision (yes, I emailed it to the vet!). I tried to upload it but my phone didn’t cooperate. Marlee’s was not red like that and looks more like a line although not a very neat line (she was pretty tiny so I imagine hard to work with). Kieko’s (done by a different vet) was completely straight, never red, and I swear could have been done by a plastic surgeon (funny, she was trained by the vet that did Marlee’s).

Hi JackRabbit.
I called today at 3:30 to make sure that they actually got the email and the technician said that vet was currently in an appointment but would call or email me back by 6:00, before they were closed. It is now 8:00, and no email or call. I am disappointed, but maybe they are annoyed with my call and emails over two days? Or maybe it’s normal looking and they are not feeling urgent about it? It hasn’t gotten any worse nor better over today and she has been behaving normally. I am going to email again tonight and ask that they call me tomorrow morning either way.

It does look like a suture might have popped out. Can you call them and arrange to bring her in today? I wouldn’t wait to hear back regarding the picture, especially with the weekend approaching.

I agree with Beka27.

I think if the vet looked at the pic that they would have called or emailed. Bunnies seem to have a way about having things come up on weekends so bug the vet if you need to — even remind them about the weekend. They do understand about worried bunny parents.
