Hey guys! Happy Monday
Aaliyah has a sore hock. I went to the Tudor Championship this weekend and had a friend watch my buns. When I got home last night I checked over my buns and noticed her sore hock. Now, she’s on carpet (bun friendly organic material) and fleece blankies. She has linoleum floor under that and she hates it. Her entire area is covered by fleece or rug. I’ve read on sore hocks that it can be caused by weight, and she is quite chubby right now. She’s a netherland dwarf and weighs about 3 3/4 pounds. She does have a 5° head tilt, but she had no sores when I got her from the scantuary a few weeks ago. I got her new food (the food I was told she was eating, oxbow BBT adult) and I noticed she wasn’t eating it. I emailed the scantuary to make sure everything was right, and she changed her story to she was feeding them alfalfa pellets. Aaliyah is 2 years old. Shouldn’t she be eating Timothy pellets? She gets a 1/4 cup a day along with all the hay she wants (though she’s not really a fan) and doesn’t get greens much due to her weight. So how do I switch her to the new food while trying to reduce her weight to fix her store hock? She doesn’t seem to be in pain but I don’t want it to get to that point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m really stumped on this one! Thanks guys!
